Ontario Insider: Commitment Spotlight - Eric Cerantola

Scouting Report

The PBR staff first saw Cerantola on June 14, 2015. The big right-hander went the distance for the complete game victory with the Ontario Diamondbacks, something that hasn’t seemed to change over the last few years. Now 6-foot-5, Cerantola fastball has been up to 90 mph, has a curveball with late action and 12/6 shape that locks hitters up and a good feel for his changeup makes him the top pitching prospect in Ontario’s 2018 class. Cerantola dominated the 16u CPBL league this year which included a no-hitter and 17 punchouts. Cerantola was also known as a top hockey prospect coming up and never really had the chance to focus all of his attention on baseball as hockey can typically be a 12 month sport. That didn’t stop Cerantola as he continued to develop and made strides as he performed at another level than most arms in the province. It lead him to a spot on the Canadian Junior National Team and now inking a scholarship with Mississippi State of the coveted S.E.C.
