Scouting Report

8/2/17 Medium 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame, athletic build. Premium, elite defender with soft hands, quick, athletic footwork, above average receiving ability and quality blocking skills. Extremely quick and clean transfers with short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and plus carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 82 mph and a pop time of 1.86-seconds. Showed off his big arm strength all weekend, keeping runners honest with lightning quick back-pick attempts, and cutting down the only steal attempt against all weekend with consistent strong, accurate throws.  Right-handed hitter that hits from an athletic setup, smooth load, leg lift and quality lower half. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, short  path, advanced approach and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 90 mph. Also posted a 6.93 60 yard dash.

4/24/17 Currently ranked No. 9 in Louisiana’s 2019 class. Athletic 5-foot-9, 165-pound frame, strong build, room to add strength and size. Advanced catch and throw ability with loose, easy hands. Gives strong, firm target and showed quality blocking ability. Extremely quick transfer with strong, accurate throws, giving consistent 1.8-1.9 pop times in-between innings, and 2.02 in-game time with a difficult angle down. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup. Smooth load, short stride, fluid rhythm in the swing with solid path to the baseball.

2/20/17 Currently ranked No. 9 in Louisiana’s 2019 class. Athletic 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame, strong build, room to add strength and size. Advanced defender with loose, fluid hips. Presents solid target with soft, easy receiving ability. Showed clean transfers with quick feet and arm strength with carry on throws. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup. Simple, direct path with fluid rhythm and solid bat speed. Finished the day 1 for 2, drawing two walks.

7/19/16 A 5-foot-10, 165-pound catcher and outfielder with a strong, athletic frame. Outstanding defender with soft hands, quick and fluid footwork, quality receiver, and showed quick, clean exchanges. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 79 mph from the crouch, 85 mph from the outfield and had a pop time of 1.86. Right-handed hitter that hits from an athletic setup, smooth load, leg kick and quality lower half. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, short  path, advanced approach and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 81 mph. Also posted a 7.1 60 yard dash.


 

The Prep Baseball Report Louisiana scouting staff recently sat down with the PBR Future Games standout to discuss how his recruiting process is coming along. Below is a transcript of our question and answer session:

PBR: What schools have you been hearing from?
Milazzo: Louisiana State University, Louisiana-Monroe, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Mississippi, South Alabama, Liberty University and Tulane University.

PBR: Have you developed a relationship with any specific coaches?
Milazzo: Coach Gibson at Southeastern Louisiana, Coach Prothro at South Alabama, Coach Cain at LSU, and Coach Caillet at Southern Miss.

PBR: Have you taken any unofficial visits? If so, please describe each visit.
Milazzo: Southeastern Louisiana-A thorough tour through campus and facilities followed by a talk with Coach Gibson and Coach Riser

PBR: Do you have any visits scheduled?
Milazzo: Southern Miss:  9/2

South Alabama: 9/8

LSU: 9/23

PBR: Do you have any offers at this stage?
Milazzo: Yes, currently I have two offers.

PBR: Do you have a timeline for your recruitment?
Milazzo: I would like to be committed by the beginning of baseball season 2018.  (January/February 2018)

PBR: Do you have a favorite at this stage?
Milazzo: I am very open at this point, and looking forward to making visits to hear what coaches have to say and where I fit their program.

PBR: GPA/ACT?
Milazzo: 3.5 GPA/21

PBR: What showcases or events have been most meaningful to your recruitment thus far?
Milazzo: The Prep Baseball Report Future Games this August, and the WWBA in Georgia this summer.
