On March 13, the PBR Illinois team hosted the first annual O'Hare Preseason I.D. at the new Bo Jackson's Elite Sports Dome in Bensenville, Ill. The event featured approximately 130 players from high school graduates in classes 2021-24, across the Chicagoland area.

Our staff collaborated in the days that followed to highlight the biggest takeaways and highlights from Saturday’s showcase, and we published them within our Quick Hits piece. Over the next couple of days we’ll be diving deeper into all of the data we collected rolling out even more coverage from the event.

Today, we’ll highlight the top statistical performers from this event in our traditional stat story and provide a few nuggets on players that stood out on the numbers side of things. For example, we had 13 players run a sub-7.00 in the 60-yard dash, paced by a sophomore we highlighted below. Additionally, 12 batters registered a max exit speed of at least 95 mph. So, there were some attention-grabbing stats recorded on Saturday, here's a few notable takeaways.

We highlighted OF Ryan Henschel (Glenbrook North, 2022) recorded the most impressive statistical performance of the showcase, as he came away at or near the top of every category he participated in. Henschel hit the hardest and furthest ball of the entire event, barreling one up at 99 mph that traveled 376 feet, per TrackMan. He also threw the hardest ball from the outfield (94 mph), and also touched 89 mph with his fastball later on in his workout – the fastest pitch of the day. And he missed the 60-yard dash leaderboard by a fraction, running a 7.08 which left him just outside the top-15.

INF Michael O’Conor (Notre Dame, 2022) put up some noteworthy numbers at his first ever PBR event. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound right-handed hitter ran a 6.88 60-yard dash, threw the second hardest ball across the infield at 84 mph, and tied for the event lead in max exit speed at 99 mph in BP, per our partners at TrackMan.

Another member of the state’s 2022 class that showed well statistically at this event: OF Connor Dickson (Libertyville). Built at an athletic 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame, Dickson ran a 7.05 60-yard dash, registered a peak exit velocity of 91 mph in batting practice, and threw multiple balls at over 90 mph from the outfield to home, his best topping out at 93 mph.

Three sophomores stand out amongst their '23 peers on these leaderboards: OF Andrew Garcia (DePaul College Prep), RHP Bennett Musser (Mundelein), and INF Troy Stukenberg (Lyons Township). Garcia's high level of athleticism helped him clock a 6.50 in the 60, which comfortably led the event, and he topped 91 mph to home from the outfield, which was tops amongst sophomores. Musser ran a 6.96 and sat 87-88 mph on the mound, and his max fastball velocity was the second highest in attendance. As for Stukenberg, he ran a 6.89 in the 60-yard dash and improved his exit velocity by nearly 17 mph since our last look, topping out at 97 mph in batting practice, tied alongside three other 2023s for the second highest exit speed.

You'll find INF Cash Campbell (Montini Catholic, 2024) on several of the leaderboards below, showing as one of the top freshmen. We expected to see his name near the top of the exit speed board, which it was with a 96 mph max, but he also managed to reach an 82 mph high from both the mound and across the infield.

Fellow freshman RHP/INF Malachi Paplanus (Huntley, 2024) used this event to catapult up our follow lists to become one of the top '24s we've seen this winter. On the infield, he threw the hardest ball across the diamond at 87 mph. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound right-hander then hopped on the bump and ran his fastball up to 84 mph, sitting at 83-84. His 84 mph high actually matched two more follow freshmen: RHP Brady Chambers (Lyons Township, 2024) and LHP Beau McBride (New Trier, 2024).
