Zack Budzik is a quick twitch athlete that plays at Sun Valley HS and in the Carolina Vipers program.  After a good high school season and impressive week at the State Games of North Carolina, Budzik made his verbal commitment to UNC Greensboro.  Having spent a week at UNCG, during the State Games, playing on his future surface, Budzik should be familiar with his future stomping grounds.

Prep Baseball Report of North Carolina has been able to follow Budzik's development since PBR NC's launch in June of 2016.  Below is a quick look at Budzik and his path to UNC Greensboro.

Scouting Report

06.19.17
Average build in a 5-foot-9, 145 pound frame.  Ran a 6.82 sixty on a slow track hammered with rain the night before.  Showed some feel for the barrel in the BP session, working without a stride, simple approach, spraying the ball across the field.  Loads to a slight wrap.  Advanced defender.  Catches with ease.  Active feet.  Plays low with good bend in the hips.  Quick, clean exchanges work to a short arm action producing carry across the diamond.  Arm allows future on left side of field.  In games, showed some pull side pop, staying in the middle of the field.  Ran a 4.31 to 1B.

01.14.17

Athletic with some strength in the 5-foot-8, 145 pound build.  Right handed hitter works from a balanced stance with a short stride.  Better than average batspeed produced an exit velocity of 88mph.  Decent approach throughout BP, with a level swing working for extension led to gap-to-gap type rounds.  Average at best barrel awareness can improve as timing continues to improve.  Ran a quick 30 yard dash in 3.89.  Defensively, flashed athleticism with average hands and fluid feet.  Clean exchanges worked to a short arm action finishing with a high-3/4 release.  Accurate with carry, arm strength peaked at 85mph across the diamond.
