Scouting Report

1/17/21

Auburn Commit, 6-foot-3, 185-pound athletic frame. Advanced during batting practice, Wade clocked an exit velocity of 97 mph. Begins in a tall quiet stance with a smooth load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed is quick and has upward swing plane. He barreled up multiple balls with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Throwing from the outfield, he displayed power in his arm with throws up to 89 mph;showed athletic feet, and sure hands. Showed consistent accuracy to the bag with a ¾ slot and a short arm action. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.91. On the mound, has a quick arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Showed some effort in his delivery. Showed consistent balance point. Lands soft with an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 86-88 mph; had tailing action and control in the zone. Throws his 11/5 curveball (74-75) with low in the zone control. Showed sinking action and consistent command on his changeup (73-74).

11/10/19

Tall, lanky RHP that works from a low ¾ slot and shows some whip in the arm action. The FB showed nice arm side action and had spin rates in the low 1900’s to low 2000’s that was up to 83 MPH. The pitch showed sink and seemed “heavy”. The breaking ball was mid 70’s (low 2100 spin rates)  with slider action and the change up showed deception with tumble at 74-75 mph. Did a nice job of locating pitches his arm side. In the OF there are no questions on defense as he can cover a ton of ground in the OF and the arm strength is there as he had the highest OF velocity (87 mph) at the event. At the plate, he continues to impress with his gap to gap power. Shows a tall, slightly open stance and has nice rhythm in the load. The hands have some quickness and he does a nice job of getting his back side through with the barrel. The swing path shows some tilt and he has carry off the barrel all over the field (97 mph exit velocity)

9/08/19

Wade continues to impress each time we see him. He can really track balls down in the OF and the arm strength is there as he threw 88 mph from the OF and gave catchers easy big hops to handle. At the plate, he has some definite juice in the barrel and shows a slow, rhythmic load of the hands to trigger the swing. Has plenty of pop to all fields. Had two hits in the game, including a 3B he absolutely smashed

6/25/19

Another guy at the event that brings a lot of tools to the field. On the mound he was effective from a ¾ slot and very nice ASR on the FB that was up to 83 mph. The pitch came out of the hand easy and seemed to really jump on hitters. He consistently showed the ability to get in on RH hitters. The breaking ball showed nice slider action but did show some depth at times at 72 mph. The ball explodes out of the hand in the OF at 86 mph and the throws were easy for the catcher to handle with easy accuracy. The athleticism is evident and the speed plays. Love the setup at the plate as Shows real nice rhythm in the swing and easy pop to all fields from a slightly tilted swing path. The stance starts open from a tall stance and he keeps the barrel through the hitting zone. A top ‘22 in the state.

6/12/19

6’2 165 lbs.- The 2022 grad shows plenty of athleticism with everything on the field. Ran a sub 7.0 60 yard dash and was 86 mph from the outfield to go along with a 93 mph exit velocity off of the tee. The tools are already in place and will likely continue to increase as he fills  out physically from an already tall, lanky build. Fluid actions all over the field. Love the barrel control from a very solid setup at the plate. Continually showed tilted line drives to both gaps during BP.
