Zach Minnick had an impressive freshman season in 2012 gaining him recognition statewide as one of the top underclassmen in West Virginia. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound SS/RHP hit a robust .366 with 24 RBI and 24 runs scored. He started well hitting safely in 6 of his first 10 high school games and finished even better hitting safely in 15 of his final 18. What Minnick accomplished on the mound was just as impressive. In 35.1 innings of work, he went 5-1 with a 4.16 ERA. Minnick's numbers were even better in 2013 as a sophomore. He went 7-2 with a 1.38 ERA and hit .539 with 6 home runs and 39 RBI.
Minnick has also spent time behind the plate, showcasing solid receiving and blocking skills to go along with a strong arm. With his projectable frame a permanent move behind the plate or to a corner infield position is likely at the next level.
