Metro East Open: Statistical Analysis

The Metro East Open took place on Tuesday, June 27th at Blazier Field in O'Fallon, Illinois. The event had over 55 prospects from Illinois and Missouri participate in a pro style workout in front of the PBR Scouting Staff. Today we start event analysis with stats story.

Top 60 yard dash times
Nick Boone (O'Fallon) laced up his running shoes for this event, posting a top time of 6.40 seconds. His 60 was nearly half a second faster than the next closest challenger, teammate Jake Holan (O'Fallon)

Top fastball velocity
Ryan Vogt and Dawson Taylor matched each other off the mound, firing off 85 mph fastballs. In total, eight players recorded a pitch of 80 mph or faster.

Four prospects broke the 90 mph exit velocity mark, led by Collin Elvers (Edwardsville) with a 93. Nick Boone see's his name pop up once more, showing off a combination of speed and power.

tOP INFIELD VELOCITY
All three prospects to throw 80 mph or faster across the infield identify as third basemen. Nic Baker (Rochester) and Cole Hampton (Edwardsville) sit atop the leader board at 86 and 84 mph respectively. Carson Richardson (Collinsville), a rising sophomore, impressed with 78 mph across the infield.

Cole Hampton showed an even stronger arm from the outfield than he did across the infield, posting 86 mph, a two mph increase from his infield velocity. Nick Boone posts yet another top statistic, only adding to his combination of speed and now power from the mound and outfield.

Andrew Toombs (Ste. Genevieve (MO)) flashed the quickest pop time at 2.03 seconds, but it was Cole Sizemore (Carterville) who showed the greatest consistency, posting pop times between 2.10 - 2.19.

Cole Sizemore continued to perform well, recording the fastest catcher velocity at 76 mph. Andrew Toombs was hot on his tail with 75 mph.
