Marauders Down Connersville 3-0

FORTVILLE---Mt. Vernon senior Joey Turner set the tone early for the Marauders when he blasted a two-run homer in the first inning. The Marauders held on to the 2-0 lead through four innings before Wyatt Vestal made it a 3-0 deficit with a homerun of his own in the bottom of the fifth.
Freshman RHP Ryan Beck got the start for Mt. Vernon going 3 1/3 innings allowing no runs on two hits while striking out three. Beck was relieved by sophomore righty Kennedy Parker who allowed just two hits and no runs while striking out two.
Connersville senior Adam Smith pitched a solid game for the Spartans in the losing effort. Smith finished the night going six complete innings scattering six hits while striking out seven.
