MOKAN Preseason All-State Spotlight: Yale Griffiths

As we quickly approach our most talented event of the year, the MOKAN Preseason All-State, PBR Kansas will highlight some of the top players already slated to be at the event. Today, we take an in-depth look at 2024 Yale Griffiths. The St. Thomas Aquinas product gets better every time we see him. This fall, the 6-foot-3, 187-pound right-hander absolutely pounded the zone with his fastball up to 87 a the MacNSeitz Scout Day. Griffiths also spins a CB flashing late depth and a changeup with fade. Offensively, The right-handed hitter that flashes pop with more to come as he continues to polish his swing.

Positional Profile: RHP/1B
Body: 6-2, 185-pounds. Athletic and projectable build.
Delivery: Short and simple footwork around the rubber working to an easy pivot foot. Works to a high balance point with weight leaning back at the top of the delivery. Strong push off the rubber working to a firm plant leg. Stays behind the ball well at release.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm slot with a circular and short arm path.
FB: T83.9, 80-83 mph. Strong arm side running action with some sink to the bottom of the zone. T2101, 1872 average rpm.
SL: 64-67 mph. Loose spin and slurvy shape with slightly slower hand speed. T1737, 1630 average rpm.

Positional Profile: RHP/1B
Body: 6-2, 185-pounds. Athletic and projectable build.
Hits: RHH. Upright posture with a slightly open stance. Lean back in posture with weight leaning back over back foot. Hands get set deep into the body with a relaxed back elbow. Leg kick stride with strong balance on the back leg. Uphill bat path and tries to work the ball up in the air. Rotational path with the hands with a strong top hand finish. Rotates hard off of front foot at contact with developing balance.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 77.9 MPH. 331' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-81 mph.High 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action.
Defense: Attacks the ball with active feet and shorter strides. Quick exchanges out of the glove with a feel for glove action and soft hands. Shows proper footwork around the bag.
Run: 6.87 runner in the 60.
