#3 Stephen Decatur Seahawks

Stephen Decatur is loaded once again on both sides of the ball in 2023 and on paper, as was true in 2022, has the makings to make a deep run and contend for a 3A State Championship. A tough and disappointing loss in the regional Semi-Finals should provide a substantial chip on the shoulders of the Seahawks. 

Ryan McLaughlin (Delaware), Gus Croll (Christopher Newport), Adam Gardner (Randolp-Macon) and Brooks Kendall (Delaware State) are four extremely talented arms and will look to lead the pitching staff in 2023. 

With McLaughlin and Croll headlining the offense, the Seahwaks are extremely balanced one through nine with the ability to score in bunches quickly. Senior Owen Knerr (Goldey-Beacom) and Junior AJ Kolb are two players to keep heavy eyes on, with Juniors Lucas Loring and Caden Shockley providing a spark throughout. An intriguing Freshman that should get vital playing time as well is Johnny Hobgood, and we expect a big season out of the athletic outfielder.
