Lexington Catholic, ranked No. 4 in our Power 25 Preseason rankings, got off to a hot start last week going 5-0 and winning the All-Catholic Tournament Championship.
In the season opener, the Knights shut out a solid DeSales squad with a 6-0 victory. The week also included a pair of wins over Newport Central Catholic, and a 7-2 win over Garrard County.
The week culminated in a matchup with the No. 1 ranked Tigers of St. Xavier on Saturday. In a game that featured a great early season pitching matchup of Anthony Ethington vs Cameron Revelette, the Knights used their speed on the bases to manufacture a couple of runs in a 2-1 victory. Ethington worked into the sixth inning, and sophomore Sam Armstrong entered the game with the Tigers threatening with the bases loaded and one out. Armstrong proceeded to get a foul pop-up and a strikeout and worked a perfect seventh to preserve the 2-1 win.
For their outstanding efforts on the field, the Lexington Catholic Knights have been selected as the PBR Kentucky Team of the Week.
