KS HS Power 20 Rankings: Week 4
April 10, 2023
The Kansas high school baseball season kicked off on March 17th, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we published our team previews ahead of and during the begging of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official PBR Kansas Preseason Power 20 Rankings.
While much of the initial lists are weighted on previous performances, prospects, and projections, updates will be inherently tied to the production on the field. Simply put: wins and championships matter. A human element to the list will still provide important information on the nuances and intricacies that the season bestows. Whether it is a close loss in a rivalry game, a five-game in three days gauntlet, or a bout of sickness that depletes a lineup, you can count on PBR to critically examine the playing field at all times.
Following Opening Day, our scouts will be out and about covering the 2023 season and will be publishing scout notes and additional in-season content along the way, like Power 20 updates, Diamond Notes, Scout Blogs, and Player of the Week awards.

- We have a new No. 1. Olathe South has been firing on all cylinders since day one of the season and they show no signs of slowing down. One of the best runs scored (8.29) and runs against (1.71) in the state against a talented schedule.
- St. Thomas Aquinas is getting output throughout their lineup and are playing strong defense, especially through the middle of the field. If they can continue to throw strikes and force teams to out hit them, they will be tough to beat any day of the week.
- Free State continues to pitch and play defense as well as anyone in the state as they jump into the top 10 for the first time.
- Clay Center and Goddard Eisenhower enter the rankings for the first time as they stay undefeated.
