Sophomore RHP Alex Johnson has had a solid year for Fort Scott in 2023. Used mostly as a starter, he has 13 appearances (10 starts), and a 6-2 record with a 7.80 ERA. Johnson has held opponents to a .250 batting average, while racking up 42 strikeouts in 45 innings. He performed well at last fall’s Fort Scott CC Scout Day, throwing a fastball, a curveball, and a changeup. Johnson’s fastball peaked at 90, and his curveball had an impressive 18.6 in. of average total movement. In games this spring, his fastball has reached 91 MPH, while his changeup has ranged from 74-76 MPH and his curveball has ranged from 68-72 MPH. These pitches should excite coaches at the next level.
