JUCO Uncommitted Spotlight: Ben Lawson

Scott Hood
OK/MO/KS/ARK Assistant Scouting Director

The uncommitted sophomore leadoff man Ben Lawson for NOC Enid had a solid year after transitioning to the outfield in 2022 that saw him hit .305 with 16 doubles, 3 triples, and 6 homers.  He also picked up 15 steals on the year in 18 attempts along with drawing 21 walks and 13 HBP's.  Lawson transitioned to the outfield right before the season started and showed strong defensive abilities after spending his previous time as an infielder for the Jets.  At the NOC Enid Scout Day back in October of last year, Lawson ran a 60 in 6.93 seconds and showed good strength at contact with an exit velo up to 95 mph and showing quick hands and good overall bat speed at the plate.  Teams looking for a table setting versatile player will find that in Lawson as well as bring a physical punch with athleticism to the lineup.
