Sophomore RHP John Harrick has had a solid year for Johnson County CC in 2023. Used primarily as a reliever, he has 9 appearances with a 1.13 ERA. Harrick has held opponents to a .038 batting average, while racking up 16 strikeouts in 8 innings. Harrick has also shown command by only walking three batters on the year. He performed well at last fall’s Johnson County CC Scout Day, showing a three pitch mix that included a fastball, a curveball, and a changeup. Johnson’s fastball peaked at 93.3 with a 2,468 spin rate and his curveball had an impressive 17.1 in. of average total movement. In the showcase, his fastball ranged from 91-93 MPH, while his changeup ranged from 85-86 MPH and his curveball ranged from 77-79 MPH. Harrick's electric arm and command of all three pitches should excite coaches at the next level.
