September 14, 2016
Dillan Smith, SS, Pickerington North HS, Class of 2017
PBR: Why did you choose Ashland?
Smith: I chose Ashland university for many reasons. I could see my self playing all four years at Ashland and coach said I also have a chance. Also many opportunities there to further my education with my major (criminal justice). Also seeing myself getting better over the four years and maybe a shot at the next level.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Smith: I was also considering ODU, Middle Tennessee State and Morehead State.
PBR: Your high school, Pickerington North, won the Division 1 State Title last year. How much pressure do you feel going into this spring?
Smith:I feel some pressure coming it's the spring being a senior an also a captain I think I have more responsibility this year and more of a higher expectation this year to follow up with another strong year.
PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
Smith:I believe my goals are to carry us as far as I can as I have done the past 4 years. And I believe since I have committed and found my future can help you get teammates find theirs.
PBR: Was the recruiting process what you expected?
Smith:it wasn't at all what I expected, you had to really promote yourself and PBR did an amazing job getting my talents promoted. Was over whelming at times but was a great experience.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Smith:I play for Kelly Ratcliff for Ohio Elite this summer. Was a great summer as far as winning, getting to know more guys learn where they are going. Over all best memory was seeing my future play out.
PBR: What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?
Smith: Myself has the greatest impact on my career. I believe this because what I chose to do each day effects what I will be able to do the next day. I have to better myself each day to stay ahead of each kid doing the exact same thing.
