September 6, 2016
Jack Zimmerman, LHP, Green HS, Class of 2017
PBR: Why did you choose Kent State?
Zimmerman: I chose Kent because I've wanted to go there my whole life and it is a great program with great coaches.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Zimmerman: Youngstown State, Marshall, and Seminole State.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you and how did your
relationship develop?
Zimmerman: They first saw me when I went to a Kent camp my freshman year in high school and our relationship progressed through my sophomore and junior year.
PBR: Was the recruiting process what you expected?
Zimmerman: It was like I expected because my brother went through it so I had a pretty good idea what to expect.
PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?
Zimmerman: It feels awesome! I'm looking forward to getting better and working with the coaching staff.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Zimmerman: I play for the Ohio Yankees and my most memorable moments were hanging out and joking around with my teammates on and off the field and throwing a no-hitter.
PBR: What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?
Zimmerman: My dad and brother have the greatest impact on my baseball career because they help me everyday to get better. I don't think I'd be going to Kent without them. Also, Coach Greg Isaacs has had a huge impact on my career.
PBR: What were your stats this spring season?
Zimmerman: We don't get our stats after the spring season but I had a no-hitter against Lake and our team went pretty far in the playoffs so that was fun.
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?
Zimmerman: Nate Cobb and Dillon Dingler.
