Inside the Recruitment: '16 C Ryan Byrne commits to Ashland

PBR: Why did you choose Ashland?
Byrne: I chose Ashland because it was the school that I felt the most comfortable at. I feel Ashland gives me the best opportunity to do well in the classroom and on the field.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Byrne: The other schools that I was considering were Earlham, Ohio Wesleyan, and Concordia
PBR: Where did the Coach Schaly first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
Byrne: Coach Schaly first saw me play at their field in a summer tournament. Afterwards we exchanged a few emails and I took an unofficial visit in November then an official visit in February.
PBR: Ashland is making several new upgrades to their baseball facility. How much of a role did that play in your decision?
Byrne: The facility upgrades didn't make a huge impact on my decision, but it is definitely an added bonus.
PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team for the rest of your senior season?
Byrne: My goals for the team are to win our league and the state championship. Personally, I just want to do everything I can to help my team accomplish these goals.
PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable experience?
Byrne: I play for Cincinnati Baseball Club in the Summer and the most memorable experience was beating the 18u Midwest prospects team to move on in a big tournament.
PBR: What were your stats for last spring?
Byrne: .368/.451/.500
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Byrne: The toughest pitcher I've faced in Ohio is Grant Maccichio from Moeller when I was a freshman.
