On Aug. 6, the PBR Illinois team made its way out to Triton College in River Grove, Ill., to host the invitation-only event Senior Games. The showcase provides incoming, uncommitted seniors of the 2020 class a platform to perform at a high level against fellow on-the-market prospects of the same age level.

Today, we’ll be examining the statistics measured at the showcase, breaking down the day’s top performers from each category. Stay tuned in the next few weeks for position-by-position scouting reports from each of the day’s attendees. For now, here’s the Statistical Analysis.

MAX FASTBALL VELOCITY

Nolan Vlcek (Lockport) reared back and topped 87 mph once at Triton, the highest velocity of the day. Connor Best (Coal City) and Alex Rodriguez (Bradley-Bourbonnais) both touched 86 mph, and Rodriguez was the only one to reach that mark consistently.

TOP 60-YARD DASH

There were eight prospects who recorded a sub-7.00 time in the 60 on Tuesday, and Robert Walker’s (Kenwood) handily led this group with a blazing 6.62. Blake Oliver (Bartlett), Alan Brown (Oak Park-River Forest), and Joe DeHaan (Andrew) trailed him, at 6.77, 6.79, and 6.80 respectively.

TOP EXIT VELOCITY

There were some sluggers at Triton on Tuesday, and Joshua Kirnbauer (Andrew) led the way with a 95 mph mark at the exit velo station. He was red-hot at PBR Wisconsin’s 17U tournament a couple weeks back at The Rock in Franklin, Wis., and he had another strong performance at this week’s showcase. Will Jaynes (Waubonsie Valley) and Matthew Flaherty (Lake Zurich) both tied for second at 94 mph.

TOP INFIELD VELOCITY

This was another category where Waubonsie Valley’s Jaynes shined. His throws across the infield topped out at 88 mph, tied for the highest of the day with Carson Richardson (Collinsville). Joshua DeLeon (Taft) trailed the two by one tick, at 87 mph.

TOP OUTFIELD VELOCITY

Three outfielders tied for the top spot at 86 mph: Tyler Chron (Glenbrook North), Sam Chapman (Champaign Central), and Adam Pottinger (Deerfield).

TOP CATCHER VELOCITY

From Nokomis, Ryan Janssen showcased the best arm strength from behind the plate of the day, reaching 79 mph on his throws down to second.

TOP POP TIMES

Janssen also recorded the single-lowest pop, at 2.06, but Lake Zurich’s Flaherty averaged the day’s lowest. Carter Stubitz (Neuqua Valley) also recorded a 2.07 pop, putting him near the top.
