It's that time of the year again as we look at who's poised to scale the rankings in 2020. Let's pack up and head out as we look at:

Scouting Report

BASE CAMP

Provenzale is currently ranked as the 72nd ranked prospect in New York for the 2021 class, as well as being the 19th ranked right handed pitcher. The 6-foot, 160 pound two-way prospect shows good athleticism on both sides of the ball. On the mound, the lanky righty has a quick arm with an over the top arm slot and features a three pitch mix. His fastball is 82-84 MPH with life in the zone, a breaking ball with late action and 11-5 shape at 69-73 MPH, and a 74-75 MPH changeup with good arm speed. Offensively, Provenzale hits from a simple setup with a quick and direct barrel. Uses a flat bat path to create consistent line drive contact. Has a bat exit velocity of 81 MPH. In the field, flashes good hands and movements, moving with light feet and fielding the ball confidently. Transitions well to his throws, which show good carry and accuracy across the diamond at 83 MPH.

THE ASCENT

Provenzale has consistently improved since first attending a PBR event, and made his biggest jump in measurables from the 2019 Preseason All-State event to the 2019 NYS Games. On the mound, all of his offerings jumped 5-7 MPH higher, with his fastball being the biggest riser from 77 to 84 MPH. As a position player, all facets of his game showed improvements: exit velocity from 77 to 81 MPH, infield velocity from 81 to 83 MPH, and 60 yard dash from 7.67 to 7.29 seconds.

Reaching the Summit

Provenzale has the type of frame that should allow him to add size and strength without it negatively impacting his athletic movements. That will be key for him moving forward as his quick twitch actions and fast arm are a major part of his game. Everything about his situation points to continued improvements in his all around skillset. He is an exciting prospect who I could easily envision making a major splash at this years Preaseason All-State event and setting himself up for a very successful summer.

Player Comparison

*Note: Many times coaches will ask our staff "Who does he remind you of?" Player "comps" are a popular tool in the scouting/recruiting world and we have decided to add that niche to our feature articles. Sometimes it's within the physical build, the numbers, the actions or a combination of all three.
