Prep Baseball Report

Get to Know: Ryan Jaros

TJ Hunt
Director, PBR New Jersey

As the new year has come and gone, it's time to delve into the annual "Get to Know" segment. Each year prior to the season, we interview several of the state's top ranked seniors to get a look at the behind the scenes preparation for the spring. To keep us going, we sit down with Georgia Tech commit, 3B Ryan Jaros.

OTHER GET TO KNOW'S

Get to Know: Ryan Jaros

Tell us about the decision-making process for your commitment? How excited are you to play there?
James Ramsey and Danny Hall are two of the best. With Coach Hall being the most winningest coach of all active Head Coaches, and Coach Ramsey’a knowledge about the game being a first round draft pick in 2011. The campus is beautiful and it feels like home. I am very excited to get down there and play! During my official visit I loved everything about the campus and had a great time hanging out with the recruits.

If you were a baseball scout and just watched yourself play, what would that scouting report look like?
Tough out. Plays the game really hard. Moves well for his size. Ability to drive the ball to the whole field.
We are knee-deep into the off-season schedule. Tell us about your training, and spring preparation.
I train each morning at 5am with my stregnth and conditioning coach Mosess Menendez. I hit Mondays with my hitting coach Hondo from Baseball Warehouse. Wednesdays with my high school team. Thursdays/Sundays with Ani Ramos. Whenever coach Lou Colon/David Steinman are available I try to get as many fielding workouts as I can with them.
Name three goals for the upcoming season.
First Team All State
Group 3 State Champion
NJPOY
Do you have any pregame superstitions?
None. I have a routine that I do to help me get as loose as possible and feeling good to go into the game. Hitting wise I take about 6-8 swings off the tee then two rounds of Bp.
Who is the best player you have played against in your high school career so far? What makes that player so good?
Ryan Lasko. Felt like he covered every piece of outfield grass, and he was a very tough out.
Who would you say your baseball role model is? Why?
My role model in baseball is Brandon Nimmo. You will never see him not hustling, and the way he comes to play day in and day out is truly remarkable.
