Tell Us More...

Tell us about your commitment to Virginia. Why did you decide on the 'Hoos? What other schools were you in contact with?

Going into my junior year summer I was heading up for the PBR Future Games. That was when everything started to pick up for me. I had been in contact with ECU before hand, but the PBR Future Games is what helped ECU decide that they wanted me. The process consisted of Richmond, Tulane, Nebraska, UPenn, Maryland, Arizona State, Campbell, and Elon.

We are knee deep into the offseason. Tell us about your training and spring preparation.
Coming off last season, I got right back into the gym with Coach John Scanzano and Jeff Singer. I knew that they would do everything to better myself as a player. Since around October I've been in the gym, while also keeping my arm loose with stretching and an arm care program. Once December came I was starting to throw long toss. Then late December I started my flat grounds. Two weeks later I began my bullpens. Everyday I am continuing to better myself.

Who is your biggest influence in the game today?
My biggest influence in the game today is easily Zack Greinke. The way Greinke can break down the batters with all the different pitches and knowing the counts really well is something that I want to master myself. He's very competitive and comes right after batters. Greinke mixes his pitches very well with the counts and batters with different hitting styles.

Who is the best player you've played with or against in your career so far?
The best player I've played with is Alex Santos (2020, Maryland recruit - NY). He's got an eye for the game and just works and works. On and off the field, he's a competitor, he brings it every time he plays the game. He's also a great teammate and is fun to be around.

What are you looking forward to this year for St. Augustine?
This year for school baseball we are coming out with the same mindset we had last year: playing as a team, going out on the field giving 110% every practice and every game. Then, of course, trying to get back where we were last year in the state championship.
