Friday's York-Adams League semifinal between Eastern York and Delone Catholic was all about one player, Brandon Knarr. The sophomore lefty showed why he is ranked #10 in the PA Class of 2017 rankings with a dominant performance on the mound. Both teams struggled offensively as each managed just four hits but Eastern York was able to score twice and make the lead hold up for the 2-0 win.
Knarr (right) dominated all day long and was only in trouble once when back-to-back bunt singles gave Delone Catholic their best chance to score in the 5th inning. After a strikeout for the second out of the inning a hard hit single to right field by Chase Kint loaded the bases. Knarr wasn't phased as he stuck out the next batter to end the threat.
Eastern York scored the only two runs of the game thanks to a two RBI single by Colby Shimmel in the bottom of the 4th. Those two runs were all that Knarr needed as Eastern York advanced to the YAIAA title game against West York, a 3-2 winner over Spring Grove yesterday.
The only player to record multiple hits was Eastern York's Robert Hedrick (2-for-3, 2B, BB, run). Knarr finished with an impressive seven inning, 19 strikeout, four walk, four hits allowed stat line.
