Future Games Team NJ: Outfield Analysis

The Future Games wrapped up over the weekend. 130 schools, 250 coaches, professional scouts, and advisors in attendance. The outfield play from Team New Jersey was outstanding, helping NJ go undefeated in its inaugural year at the Future Games. Below is a complete analysis of the outfielders that represented the Garden State:

Scouting Report

2017 Future Games (August 2-5, 2017)
Bozzuti has a lean, athletic and broad shouldered build at 5-foot-10 180-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.27-seconds, recorded an exit velocity of 87 MPH. At the plate, starts in a tall, slightly opened stance with hands above back shoulder and bat parallel to the ground. Uses a leg kick and stride to start swing, hands load fluidly, down and back. Produces a short, compact swing with some explosiveness. Hands and hips worked quickly and efficiently through the zone. Finishes balanced with some lift to swing. Line drive hitter with gap to gap strength and potential. Load is smooth with some rhythm. Defensively – throws topped at 81 MPH from right field. High-3/4 slot with long, stiff arm action. Throws had some armside run and were on target. Fields ball out in front of body and plays through his throws. During gameplay, Bozzuti went 3-8, with 2 Runs Scored and 2 stolen bases.

2017 Future Games (August 2-5, 2017)
Glancy has a lean, athletic build at 5-foot-10 175-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.75-seconds and recorded an exit velocity of 82 MPH. Offensively- Glancy starts in a stall, neutral stances with hands above back shoulder and bat wrapped around head. As pitch comes in, uses a small leg lift and stride. Hands load up and back slightly. Elastic, explosive torso and quick hands produce gap to gap power. Balanced and lift in finish. Middle of the order-type projection. Defensively – from the outfield, recorded throws that topped at 85 MPH. True-3/4 slot, long loose arm. Throws had some armside run and were on a line to target. Ball jumps out of his hand with carry. One of the top OF prospects in NJ's 2019 class.

2017 Future Games (August 2-5, 2017)
Guzzardo has a strong, broad shouldered frame at 6-foot 190-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.54-seconds and recorded an exit velocity of 91 MPH. Was one of the top overall hitters for Team New Jersey the whole weekend, routinely barreling up into the gaps – even outs were loud. Offensively - sets up in a wide, slightly opened stance with hands above shoulder, closer to his head. As pitch comes in, uses a small foot stride. Hands load up and back. Explosive and short to the ball with quickness in hands and hips. Gap to gap hitter with impressive carry on the ball when he squares it up. Defensively - throws topped at 76 MPH from the outfield with backspin. Throws were accurate to target. Shorter, stabby arm action. Final stats from the weekend: 2-6, 2 RBI, 2 BB.

Kane as a projectable lanky, athletic build at 6-foot-1 160-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.98-seconds and recorded an exit velocity of 90 MPH. One of the top 2020s in NJ. Offensively- sets up in a side, opened stance with hands just above back shoulder. As pitch comes in, uses a leg kick and stride to start swing. Hands load down and back with a slight hitch that he uses from rhythm. Tall, easy finish. Line drive hitter with effortless pop to bat. Defensively- throws from right field topped at 85 MPH. Short, quick and clean arm action with backspin and carry. Throws were on target. Attacks the ball and fields out in front of body. Plays through throws to homeplate. Final stats: 1-6, 3B, RBI, 2 R, Sac.
