Scouting Report

6/15/20

 

Physical: 6-foot-4, 210 pounds; big, physical frame. 6.97 runner in the 60.

 Offensively: RHH. Upright, wide base; medium leg kick. aggressive with plus bat speed, flat bat path; 10 degree bat angle into the zone via Blast Motion. Dymond is able to produce 14.9 G’s of force with an on-plane efficiency of 64%.  Hard, consistent contact to the pull side; average Trackman exit velocity of 89 MPH; peak exit velo was 97 MPH.

Defensively: Upright but active pre pitch; lets the ball get to him, moves well for his size. Solid hands, will sometimes stab at the ball, smooth transfer; Quick arm swing with a 3/4 slot.  INF - 81 MPH. 

Pitching: Sets up in the middle of the rubber and uses a slow side step to get into a deliberate delivery where he gets into his backside well. Short take back with a high 3/4 arm slot. FB: T 83 MPH, 80-82 MPH. Shows some arm side run . CB: 66-68 MPH. Short, early breaking. SL: 74-77 MPH. Short-breaking, one plane. CH: 72-73 MPH. Late fade.

Physical: 6-foot-4, 210-pounds. Strong, physical frame; projectable; solid.
Run: 7.1 runner in the 60. Stays inline; athletic actions for his size.
Hit: RHH. Wide, slightly open stance; little bag wiggle; hands stay back past back shoulder and level; small stride/leg kick Level path to the ball; high two-handed finish; line drives pull side.
Power: 82 MPH raw exit velocity. Showed power; need more consistency, but puts a good charge into the ball.
Defense: Fundamental footwork around the bag; fields the ball out front; hop step for timing the ball; calm and controlled when approaching the ball.
Arm: Short and quick arm action; 3/4 slow. INF - 80 MPH.

Pitching Delivery: Works with tempo, high leg lift with hands in relaxed position, builds momentum and accelerates into a strong balanced follow through.
Arm Action: Long, clean arm action dropping out of the glove building arm speed to a 3/4 slot .
FB: T84, 82-84 MPH. Controls for strikes, ball rides through the zone.
CB: 68-71 MPH. 11-5 shape with early action.
SL: 76-77 MPH. Late, sharp break with some down action.
CH: 73-76 MPH. Maintains arm speed with arm side fade.

Dymond has a big strong projectable frame. Offensively, stands in the box in a tall stance with feet shoulder width apart. Simple load actions. Quick direct path to the baseball with a slight lift at the point of contact. Dymond showed off his power potential with consistent hard contact to the pull side. Dymond gets good use of his lower half. Dymond recorded an 83 exit velocity off the tee. Defensively, the 1B displayed active footwork during the defensive workout. Gets in a low wide base when fielding the baseball. Smooth exchange to a quick release from a high ¾ arm slot. On the mound, Dymond displayed a repeatable delivery and a projectable arm. Pitches from a high ¾ arm slot with a loose arm action. Worked with a three pitch mix. FB peaked at 77 MPH, CB ranged from 63-65 MPH and CH range was 68-69 MPH. The 2022 graduate is a must follow.
