Faith Lutheran Scout Day Recap

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

The Faith Lutheran Scout Day featured a handful of upperclass arms like 2020 UCSB commit RHP/OF Michael Rice, Uncommitted 2021 RHP Christian Dijkman and Uncommitted 2020 LHP Travis Foth that has the Crusaders poised for a deep run this year. But, the wealth of talent in the 2022 and 2023 classes, such as 2023 LHP/OF Zane Kelly, 2023 3B/RHP Brandon Swanson, 2022 RHP Karl Ralamb and 2023 C Mikey Albanese, has them set for years to come.

The Scout Day stat sheet was dominated by Santa Barbara commit Michael Rice who lead the team in Infield Velocity (93 mph), Outfield Velocity (93 mph), Fastball Velocity (90 mph) and Exit Velocity (90 mph) and was in the top three of the remaining stats for which he was eligible. Dijkman, a Uncommitted Upperclass attendee, sat at 82 mph from a high 3/4 slot that helped him create some downward angle on each of his three pitches and Foth maintained his craftiness from the left side living in the upper 70's, throwing nothing straight with flashes of heavy arm side run. The next wave of young Crusaders is what has the PBR Nevada staff excited with Kelly already sitting mid 80's with potential plus secondary stuff, Brandon Swanson who showed projectable action at the plate, in the field and one the mound, Karl Ralamb, already 6-foot-2, featured possible the most polished mechanics of the day with feel for each of his three pitch mix and the future backstop, Albanese is already throwing a 2.00 and 2.02 pop time.
