FL Preseason All-State Spotlight: Renzo Gonzalez

The Florida Preseason All-State has quickly become the premier Preseason event in the state of Florida. Over the first two years there have been over 100 committed players in attendance and counting. This event is held for the top 2019s-2022s throughout the state to kick off the Prep Baseball Report's spring high school baseball coverage. 

We will begin to spotlight each and every player in attendance. Today, we look at Renzo Gonzalez (Alonso, 2021). Committed to Miami, Gonzalez is the ranked No. 17 in Florida's Class of 2021 and No. 107 Overall.

Scouting Report

12/08/18 - Miami commit, currently ranked No. 15 in FL and No. 107 Overall. 5-foot-10, 180-pound left-handed outfielder, athletically-built, strong lower half. Offensively, hands/wrists work loosely and athletically through the zone, gap-to-gap hitter, drives the ball with advanced bat speed. Advanced feel for the barrel. Defensively, natural and quick instincts in the outfield, plays through the ball with athleticism, stays behind the ball, throws are true with carry, accurate to the bag. High follow 2021.

06/23/18- Stocky 5-foot-10, 165 pounds with strength in the lower half. Average runner, but overall has multiple advanced tools. Offensively, the left handed hitter works with rhythm and utilizes his strong lower half well. He has loose wrists and works gap-to-gap and present bat speed and will have pull side power in the future. He has an advanced feel to hit and a very high offensive upside.Defensively, he also shows advanced actions in the outfield where he shows range, taking efficient routes to the ball with a quick first step. Gets behind his throws which are online with accuracy and carry to the bag. Pure left handed hitter and the hit tool is going to play which will make him a high value, impact player. 

06/03/18- Elite level stuff for the class, FB 80-84 from a high ¾ arm also showed a plus curveball ranging 67-71. Erratic at times but a high follow

8.20.17- Big, strong left handed hitter left handed throwing outfielder has some big projectable tools. Topped out at 82 mph from the outfield. The bat has a chance to really play. He shows present pull side power, with above average bat speed for his class. He gets quality use from his strong lower half, slightly uphill path that has a chance to hit for power as he continues to grow.
