Just under two weeks remain until PBR Pennsylvania's Elite Prospect Showcase on October 29th at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim. Today, we continue a series of previews on prospects who will be in attendance, as we highlight The Linsly School (WV) 2020 3B/RHP Andrew Clelland.
The 6-foot-2, 155-pounder has an athletic, lean, long-limbed frame that has plenty of room to fill out over the next four years. The freshman displayed a well-rounded skill set in September in a workout with Team All*American at Seton Hill University.
Currently listed as a primary third baseman, Clelland showed signs that his future may could also be on the mound. The right-hander sat 72-73 while topping at 76 mph from a high 3/4 arm slot. He showcased a loose, fluid delivery with a high knee stack with much more velocity likely to come in future years. Clelland showed solid feel for his 60 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation and a changeup at 68 mph.
Clelland also displayed athletic actions at third base with active feet and accurate 73 mph arm strength across the diamond. The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a short lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. He showed good rhythm and balance throughout his swing with solid feel for the barrel and an 81 mph bat exit velocity.
