Draft League Spotlight: Zac Fascia
March 25, 2021
Player: Zac Fascia
Position: C
School: Purdue
A 37th round selection in the 2018 draft by the New York Mets, the 6-foot-1, 220-pound left-handed hitting catcher is one of the top defensive backstops in the country. He shows a plus arm with short, direct footwork to second base for a quick release and game POP times in the low 1.9s. He also runs especially well for a catcher, posting a 6.72 sixty at scout day the fall of his junior season. During batting practice, Fascia will show a short load, good hips and some whip in the barrel, generating some explosion to the gaps. In the spring of 2019 the left-handed hitter slashed .277/.351/.396 then built on that success by reaching base safely in his first 11 games during the 2020 shortened season.
