Draft League Spotlight: Rob Marinec
March 16, 2021
Player: Rob Marinec
Position: C
School: North Central College
Athletic at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, Marinec has present tools of plus athleticism and above average run speed underway. However, his top tool is arm strength. With a quick release and a between inning POP time from his knees at 1.97 (2.03 in game) he also shows consistent accuracy to the bag. He reminds of Nick Dalesandro (10th round in 2018) the former Purdue backstop who is now in the minor leagues with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Marinec has quick hands at the plate and better than average bat speed, despite some length to his swing path. After a strong start to his junior season at North Central (.357/.474/.643), Marinec continued to shine in the batter’s box last summer, posting a .310/.375/.595 slash through his first 15 games in the Kernel's Collegiate League.
