Draft League Spotlight: Jared Kengott
May 19, 2021
Player: Jared Kengott
Position: RHP
School: Emporia State
Kengott began his collegiate career as an outfielder at Southern Illinois, where he posted an .805 OPS as a sophomore before redshirting in 2019 and then transferring to Emporia State the following year. He’s worked as a starting pitcher exclusively since joining the Hornets, racking up 92 strikeouts in 83 innings (10.0 K/9) through his first 16 turns in the rotation. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound righty has a 90-93 mph fastball that can touch 96, though it’s the prospect of future velocity gains to Kengott’s low-mileage arm that makes him an intriguing Draft prospect.
