Here is a look at the scores and highlights from yesterday's State Championship action.
DIVISION I – CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
SCOTTS HILL 8, Knoxville Grace 3
Evan Russell and Thomas Kimmel led the way for Scotts Hill in Friday’s championship game. Both Russell and Kimmel went 2-3, while Russell had a triple, 2 runs, and 2 RBI and Kimmel scored a run and drove one in. Kimmel also closed the game out on the mound and Charlie Lowry added two hits of his own. Colton McPeake got the win, allowing only 2 earned runs in his 6 innings of work. Justin Shaw went 3-4 in the loss for GCA.
DIVISION I – CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
SPRING HILL 14, CPA 4
The Raiders tallied 16 hits and 14 runs in the game, receiving contributions from almost everyone in their lineup. Brycen Thomas went 3-4, registering a double, a triple, and a home run, while scoring a run and driving in 4. Thomas also came out of the bullpen and struck out 2 in his one inning of work. Josh Wilkinson and Taylor Warwick also added 3 hits apiece and Austin Dunston drove in 2 runs. Zach King got the win for Spring Hill, throwing 2 innings of relief and only allowing 1 unearned run. Phillip Clarke hit a home run for CPA in the loss.
DIVISION I – CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
SIEGEL 9, Arlington 8
Ryker Kristinus helped spark the Stars to the win in their state championship game, leading off two separate innings with a hit and getting the offense going early. Kristinus finished 2-4 with 2 runs scored on the day. Matthew McCurry had a huge triple that drove in 3 runs and finished the game with 4 RBI and 1 run scored. Tyler Kirkland and Jordan Middleton both had 2 hits for Siegel, as well. Zac Pearson got the win and Jacob Key came on to strike out the side and register the save. Ian Bibiloni had 3 hits and Tyler Pagenkopf hit a home run and a double for the Tigers.
