Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from the action around the state yesterday.
Milan 7, Covington 1
Taylor Lockhart went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to help lead the Bulldogs to their Sectional victory. Mason Holden added a 2 RBI double and scored 2 runs, while Landon Walker produced a hit and 2 RBI of his own. On the mound, Connor Creasy threw all 7 innings and allowed only 6 hits. Creasy struck out 9 and had a hit and RBI of his own. Cole Howard and Tyler Higgins each had 2 hits for Covington.
Collierville 1, Bartlett 0
Collierville was boosted to victory by Adam Sanderlin’s RBI double in the top of the 6th inning. Parker PaCathey scored the Dragons’ only run and Cole Johnson added 2 hits. Brayden Green dealt the complete-game shutout, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 7 Panther hitters. Cody Floyd had 2 of Bartlett’s 3 hits in the game.
Arlington 5, Houston 0
Ian Bibiloni had a huge day, going 4-4 with a double, an RBI, and scored 2 runs, while Tyler Gentry went 2-4 with a home run, 3 RBI, and 1 run scored. The two combined for 6 of the Tigers’ 7 hits. Hayden Edwards went the distance on the mound, completing the shutout by striking out 5 and only allowing 2 hits to the Mustangs.
Davidson Academy 6, University School of Jackson 2
Ethan Tressler dominated the day, recording a 2-4, 2 RBI performance at the plate and dealing the complete-game victory on the mound. Tressler stuck out 6, allowing only 5 hits and 0 earned runs. Brock Myers and Hayden Hollingsworth each added a hit and scored 2 runs, as well. John Stanford and Jake Overton each had a hit and an RBI for the Bruins.
Grace Christian-Knoxville 7, Unaka 1
Justin Shaw set the tone for the Rams by 3-4 at the plate and throwing a solid 6+ innings of 3 hit baseball, on the mound. Shaw struck out 8 and didn’t allow an earned run in recording the win. Micah Wheeler closed it out with 2 strikeouts. Noah Gent went 2-4 with 2 RBI, Micah Wheeler went 2-3 with an RBI and a run, and Taylor Lawson went 2-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. John Ramsey had a hit and scored the only run for Unaka.
Baylor 7, Christian Brothers 4 (Game 1)
AJ Montijo threw 3 innings of 1-hit relief to help lead the Red Raiders to their Game 1 victory on Friday. Tate Prater went 2-3, scored 3 runs, and recorded an RBI. Gunnar Ricketts and Keaton Baker both had 2 hits, scoring 2 runs and driving in 2, respectively. Teddy Lepcio also had a hit and 3 RBI in the win. Weston Bizzle and William Locke each had 2 hits for the Purple Wave.
Christian Brothers 6, Baylor 3 (Game 2)
John Louis Bland, Hayden Leatherwood, William Locke, and Jared Shemper all had 2 hits for the Purple Wave. Bland recorded a run and 2 RBI, while Locke scored a run of his own. Shemper got the complete-game victory on the mound, striking out 11 and allowing 6 hits. Gehrig Ebel had 2 hits for the Red Raiders.
Greeneville 6, Knoxville Catholic 0
Lincoln Bowman stifled the Irish hitters, striking out 9 and allowing only 5 hits in route to a complete-game shutout. Bowman also had a hit of his own. Augustus Fraley went 2-4 with a triple and 2 runs scored, white Cody Hartness and Tyler Dimon both had 2 hits and a run of their own. Caden Ramsey drove in 2. Augustus Fortune had 2 hits for Knoxville Catholic in the loss.
Christian Academy of Knoxville 10, Chuckey-Doak 0
Hudson Chastain had a huge day for the Warriors, going 3-5 with 5 RBI. Chastain also scored a run of his own and recorded a walk-off double in the bottom of the 5th. Trey Hinton went 2-2 with 2 walks, an RBI, and 3 runs scored. Spencer Strider struck out 9 and allowed 1 hit in only 5 innings of work. Joshua Malone had the only hit for the Black Knights.
Farragut 13, Morristown East 0
Chandler Chambers led the way for the Admirals in this victory by posting 2 doubles, 4 RBI, and 2 runs scored in his 2-3 performance. Carmelo Venero, Parker Noland, John Painter and Alec Rinehart all had 2 hits, while Painter also closed the game out with 2 strikeouts. Dylan Pacifico got the win for Farragut, as he struck out 8 and allowed 1 hit in his 4 innings of work. Spencer Odom had the only hit for the Hurricanes.
