Weather has played a factor in many teams starting their season, but decent (albeit chilly) weather prevailed last night to allow a good number of games to be played around the state. Here are the scores and highlights.

Trace Willhoite went 4-for-4 with 3 doubles and 3 RBI, Kevin VanValkenburg went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, and Kyle Harbison doubled and drove in 2 runs to lead Scott County. Jordan Fox picked up the early season win with 4 strikeouts in 2.1 innings.
#4 Johnson Central 2, Perry County Central 1
In a premier early season pitching matchup, Braxton Kelly and Braxton Cottongame were both nearly unhittable. Kelly worked 5 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 unearned run with 6 strikeouts, while Cottongame allowed 1 hit with 6 strikeouts over 3 scoreless innings. Cody Rice and Weston May drove in the two Johnson Central runs.

Louie Kessinger led the Henry Clay offensive attack going 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, and TJ Keck added a triple as the No. 9 team in the Power 25 made the most of 3 hits on the night. Noah Blythe went 2-for-3 with a double in the loss for Tates Creek, while Eli Tencza drove in both runs for the Commodores. Sean Gibbons allowed 2 earned runs over 5.1 innings with 6 strikeouts for the win.

Seth Bennett and Kross Grundy each went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Gavin Stevens doubled and drove in 2 runs, Kade Grundy added 2 hits and 2 RBI, and Trae Harmon and Caleb Wonn each collected 2 hits in the win. Bennett also picked up the win on the mound allowing 1 run over 4 innings.

Jackson Fristoe went 2-for-3 with a HR and 3 RBI, Will Thompson went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, Josh Lang went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, and Colbe Crim collected 2 hits and drove in a run. Fristoe also worked 5 strong innings allowing 1 earned run with 7 strikeouts to record the win. Bryce Thomas went 2-for-3 with a RBI in the loss.

Peyton Henry hit two-run homer, Eric Sottile added two hits and an RBI, and Noah Milburn doubled and drove in a run to lead the Knights to the win. Doug Stough went 2-for-3 with two doubles and 2 RBI in the Trinity loss. Milburn also picked up the win allowing just two hits and no earned runs over 5 innings of work.

Tyler Martin went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, and Jacob Lacey and Adam Smiley each doubled in the South Warren win. AJ Isable worked 5 solid innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 earned run with 3 strikeouts.

Henry Escobar went 4-for-5 with a double and RBI, Jackson Murray collected 2 hits and drove in a run, and Gabe Lawrence doubled and drove in 2 runs for Manual. Austin Bedell allowed 1 run in 4 innings to pick up the win.

Lane Howell went 3-for-3 with a HR and 3 RBI, Jordyn Naranjo doubled and drove in 4 runs, and Taylor Goodwin added 2 hits in the win. Howell also picked up the win on the mound allowing 2 runs on 1 hit with 6 strikeouts over 3.2 innings.

Gage Hughes went 2-for-4 with a double, HR, and 4 RBI, and Christian Wireman added 3 hits and drove in 2 runs for Greenup County. Ryan Lambert allowed just 3 hits and 1 run with 7 strikeouts in 5 innings of work to pick up the win.

It took 14 innings for a run to be scored as the two teams combined for 49 strikeouts. Josh Hash drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the 14th for the walk-off victory. Cole Hicks and Chase Estep combined to strikeout 18 batters in 10 innings of work. Hunter Rigsby fired 6 hitless innings with 18 strikeouts for Rockcastle County.

Trenton Brown tripled and drove in 2 runs to lead Breckinridge County to the win. Isaac Seeger and Brock Lucas combined on the two-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Shane Taylor went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Devon Stevens went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, and Ryan Mullen and Matthew Gagliano each collected 2 hits in the rout. Gagliano fired 4 shutout innings with 11 strikeouts to pick up the win.

Travis Wiser went 3-for-3 with a double, Kelly Mattingly went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, and Davis Rafferty added 2 hits and drove in a run in the one-run win. Luke Thomas pitched well in relief allowing 1 run over 4 innings with 9 strikeouts.

The Rams scored 2 runs in the 10th to take the extra-inning win. Hunter Lacks went 4-for-6 with a double and 2 RBI, Justin Fairchild doubled, homered, and drove in a run, and Seth Mills went 2-for-5 with a double. Kirk Pence picked up the win in relief with 3 scoreless innings and 7 strikeouts.
