On the first Friday night of the season last evening, action heated up on diamonds around the state with more than 50 games being played. Here is a look at scores and highlights from around the Commonwealth last evening.

#1 Paul Laurence Dunbar 1 #12 Bullitt East 0
Aaron Ochsenbein and Isaac Taylor combined on the shutout to lead PLD to season-opening win.
#2 St. Xavier 8 Bethlehem 2
Miles Lee went 3-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBI, and Josh Finerty added 3 hits as the Tigers opened with a win. Connor Underwood allowed just 2 hits and 1 unearned run in 5 innings to record the win.
#3 Henderson Co 14 Caldwell Co 12
Henderson County built a big lead and then survived a furious comeback to hang on for the win. Kaleb Duckworth went 2-for-3 with a Grand Slam HR and Kole Gibson drove in 4 runs to lead the Henderson County offense. Clay Church picked up the win in relief allowing 1 unearned run in 3 1/3 innings.

Collierville, TN 5 #9 McCracken Co 3
Josh Scheer left with a 2-1 lead after 5 innings, but the Mustangs couldn’t hold on for the victory. Scheer struck out 8 and allowed 4 hits in his 5 innings of work. Nathan Williams collected 2 of McCracken County’s 3 hits in the loss.

#13 Paducah Tilghman 26 Crittenden Co 4
DeSales 12 #15 Trinity 10
DeSales rallied from a 9-4 defecit after 4 innings to claim the victory. Henry Weiter went 2-for-5 with a HR and 3 RBI, and Daniel Breedlove, Dillon Sievert, and Trenton Saylor each collected 2 hits apiece in the win. Jaylin Blair picked up the win tossing 4 innings of relief
#22 Nelson Co 6 Barren Co 3
Caleb Ahlers went 2-for-3 with a HR and 4 RBI to lead Nelson County to the victory. Hunter Childress added a big 2-run single, and Alex Briney picked up the first win of the season, allowing no earned runs and striking out 5 in 3 2/3 innings of work.

Dalton Lawson collected 3 hits, and Trey Aldrich ripped 2 doubles ti lead Allen Central to the upset victory. Brian Handshoe picked up the win with 2 scoreless innings of relief while striking out 5.
Hopkinsville 4 Murray 0
In a pitching duel, Easton McGee outlasted Luke Brown as Hopkinsville recorded the shutout win. McGee racked up 13 K’s while allowing just 4 hits in his 6 2/3 innings of work. Taylor Saltsman had the big blow of the night, a 2-run double in Hopkinsville’s 4 run 6th inning. Brown struck out 9 in his 5 1/3 innings of work in the loss.
Owensboro Catholic 8 Breckinridge Co 2
Ray Zuberer went 3-for-3 with a double and 4 RBI in the winning effort. Austin Bridgeman worked 4 innings of hitless baseball in picking up the win.
North Hardin 8 DuPont Manual 7
Trailing 7-2, North Hardin scored 6 times in the 4th inning for the comeback win.
Knox Central 13 Bell County 0 (5 innings)
Hunter McRight went 4-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Brayden Imel ripped 2 doubles and drove in 3 runs, Jacob Collins went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI, and Seth Hill added a 3-run triple as Knox Central banged out 15 hits in the win. Evan Lay went the distance for the 3-hit shutout.
Whitley Co 2 Berea 1
Whitley County pushed across a run in the bottom of the 7th for the walk-off victory despite collecting only 2 hits for the game. Jordan Crusenberry doubled in the winning effort, and Corey Crisologo and Steven Watson combined on the 5-hit shutout.
Kentucky Country Day 10 Doss 4
Jackson Diaz went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, and Casey Klein and Mason Bennett each added 2 hits in the KCD win. Bennett picked up the win allowing 2 runs and striking out 6 in 5 innings of work.
Bowling Green 10 Russellville 4
Seaton Sheldon went 3-for-5 with a HR and 3 RBI, and Hunter Rogers added 3 hits and 2 RBI in the win for the Purples. Stuart Posey picked up the win allowing 1 earned run in 4 innings of work.
Bardstown 10 Burgin 0 (6 innings)
Shunta Muto fired a complete game shutout with 13 K’s and also went 2-for-3 to lead Bardstown to the victory. Trey Heiskell hit a 2-run HR to aid in the winning cause.
Western Hills 7 Boyle Co 4
Kyle Fisher went 2-for-4 with a HR and 2 RBI, and Kyle Stevens added 2 hits in the winning effort. Zack Barker picked up the win allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 7, and Parker Jackson threw 3 innings of 1-run baseball to record the save.
Covington Catholic 11 Bishop Brossart 1
Noah Galvin went 3-for-3 with a double and HR, and Nick Pope added 2 hits as Coving Catholic cruised to the victory. Conner Brown threw 4 scoreless innings for the win.
Danville 12 Pulaski Co 2
Collin Harris, Jay Hunn, and John Roney all collected 2 hits apiece, and Mason Stamm drove in 3 runs as Danville cruised to the win. Nick Serey picked up the win allowing 2 runs in 3 innings of work.
Garrard Co 8 Rockcastle Co 2
Seth Murphy had a big night going 4-for-4 with a triple, HR, and 5 RBI to lead Garrard County to the win.
North Oldham 5 Whitefield Academy 1
Andrew Pennybaker continued his hot start to the season going 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and a RBI to lead North Oldham. Trevor Grady threw 4 shutout innings to pick up the win.
