Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from around the state on Friday, April 7, 2017.
Clarksville 13, Germantown 3
Skyler Luna and Garrett Spain helped to lead the Wildcat offense yet again on Friday evening, as they combined to go 5-6 with 3 extra-base hits, 2 walks, 5 runs, and 4 RBI. Teal Young added 2 hits and 3 RBI, while Calen Kimmell finished 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Colton Reeves recorded the W on the mound.
Rossview 12, Karns 2
Bracken Rice delivered a strong performance for the Hawks on Friday night, tossing 6 innings of 2-run baseball to earn the W on the mound. Rice struck out 4 and allowed only 6 hits and 2 walks. Six Rossview players had 1 hit and 1 RBI, and Austin Jackson finished 2-3 with a run scored. Cody Eby added 2 runs and 2 RBI.
CAK 4, Star's Mill (GA) 3
The Warriors were able to outlast a late-inning comeback by Star's Mill, Georgia to win in walk-off fashion. Alex Osborne went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and Jesse Osborne finished 2-3 with 2 RBI to pace the offense, while Turner Helton produced the game-winning squeeze bunt in bottom of the 7th. Lucas Sykes dealt 6 innings and allowed only 2 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 8.
Greeneville 11, Science Hill 8 (10 Innings)
Cody Hartness, Jordan Idell, Augustus Fraley, and Nash Newberry all had 3 hits for the Devils in Friday evening's 10-inning victory over Science Hill. Fraley and Newberry each drove in 2 runs, while Caden Ramsay finished 2-5 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored on the night. Ramsay also recorded the W on the mound, tossing the final 2 innings and allowing 0 runs on 1 hit.
White Station 6, Millington Central 2
Josh Thorpe delivered a strong performance on the mound in Friday's Spartan victory, dealing 7 innings and allowing 4 hits, 2 walks, and 2 runs, while striking out 7. Thorpe also contributed at the plate, combining with John Lyons to finish 5-5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Reed McQuinn also had 2 hits and Ty Dobbins scored 2 runs.
Bearden 9, East Hamilton 2
Six Bulldog hitters finished the game with 2 hits, led by Jacob Balsley and his 2 RBI and 1 run scored. Prater Knight hit a home run and Clark Poynter and Nate Adkins each scored and drove in a run. Josh Beam earned the W on the mound, tossing 6 innings and allowing only 4 hits, 3 walks, and 1 unearned run.
Goodpasture 7, Lipscomb Academy 6 (8 innings)
Cole Carter put on a show in Friday evening's Cougar victory, finishing 5-5 with a home run, 2 RBI, and 1 run scored. Zachary Wallace also delivered a solo home run and scored 3 runs in the game. Seth Pentecost finished 2-3 and Will Dearing earned the W on the mound.
Covington 4, Springfield 1
Brock Lomax put together a stellar performance on Friday night to help lead the Chargers to victory. Lomax dealt the full 7 innings, allowing 7 hits and 3 walks, but holding Springfield to 1 run, while striking out 7. Ethan Whitley, Tommy Flanagan, and Lomax each had 1 hit, 1 run, and 1 RBI to help pace the offense.
Ensworth 2, McCallie 1 (9 innings)
Elijah Brooks came through for the Tigers in Friday's victory over McCallie. After coming in on the mound and dealing a scoreless top of the 9th, Brooks came through with the bat and delivered a walk-off single to score Drew Byers in the bottom half of the 9th. Chandler Schultz tossed the first 8 innings and allowed only 1 unearned run on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6.
Hardin Valley 6, Soddy Daisy 3
Some late-inning offense and defensive blunders helped the Hawks rally for 6 runs in the final 2 innings on Friday night. Lukas Cook finished 2-3 with a run and an RBI, while Dawson Byard scored 2 runs of his own. Jared Lugo drove in 2 runs and Bryce Jenkings earned the W on the mound.
Dobyns-Bennett 10, Elder (OH) 6
The Indians received huge production from the middle of their order in Friday evening's win over one of the top programs in Ohio. Parker Hill, Evan Mahaffey, and Daniel Starnes all went 3-4 and combined for 6 runs and 6 RBI on the night. Chaz Kimbril added 2 hits and 3 runs scored, while Starnes was also able to pick up the W on the mound.
Boyd-Buchanan 6, Grace Baptist Academy 2
Cade Evans put together a huge game on Friday night to help lead the Buccaneers to victory, as he finished 3-4 with a double, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Jax Price also contributed 3 hits and an RBI, while Thomas Baker and Eli Evans both had 2 hits of their own. Casey Pate earned the W on the mound and Cade Evans registered the save.
Huntingdon 4, Adamsville 1
Elijah Wilkerson delivered a strong performance on the mound that put the Mustangs in a great place to win on Friday night. Wilkerson tossed the full 7 innings and allowed 1 unearned run on 4 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 3. Hunter Hankings finished 3-3 with a double and a run scored to lead the offense.
Huntingdon 9, Chester County 4
The top of the Mustang lineup came to play in the second half of their Friday double-header, as Zack Dodson, Hunter Ensley, and Kade Pearson combined to go 8-12 with 3 RBI and 7 runs scored. Kyle Lutz added 2 hits and 4 RBI and Reed Jones tallied the W on the mound.
Ooltewah 7, Bradley Central 4
Owls RHP Ethan Walls was sharp in Friday night's victory over Bradley Central, tossing 6 innings and allowing only 6 hits and 0 walks. Walls struck out 10 and surrendered only 1 earned run. Andrew Manning and Sam Zettel each had 1 hit and drove in 2 runs on the night to help fuel the offense.
