Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from around the state on Thursday, April 6, 2017.
Evangelical Christian 11, Harding Academy 0
ECS used strong performances on both sides of the ball to totally dominate Thursday evening's matchup. Colin Jones tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing only 2 hits and 0 walks in 6 innings, while striking out 8. Offensively, Keegan Westbrook and Josh Rooker combined to go 7-8 with 3 runs and 3 RBI. Hunter Childress hit a home run.
GCA-Knoxville 5, Knoxville Catholic 4
The Rams were able to find a way to pull out a walk-off victory in their back-and-forth contest with Knoxville Catholic on Thursday afternoon. Hunter Ross dealt 6 innings of 1-run baseball, allowing 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. Ross also recorded 2 hits at the plate, along with Logan Harbin and Taylor Lawson. Landon Crumbley hit a 5th inning home run and scored 3 runs on the day.
Goodpasture 11, Davidson Academy 3
The Cougar offense exploded against Davidson Academy on Thursday evening, racking up 12 hits and 4 walks in their 6 innings at the dish. Caleb McNamee went 2-4 with a run and an RBI and Seth Pentecost finished 3-4 with 2 runs to help lead the way. Camden Angell hit a 3-run bomb in the 4th inning as a pinch hitter, while Ryan Lyle recorded the W on the mound.
Ooltewah 11, Red Bank 7
The Owls utilized a total team effort on Thursday night, receiving RBI's from 7 different players and runs from 8. Andrew Manning, Sam Zettel, and Trevor Wiggs all had 2 hits and combined for 2 doubles, 3 runs, and 3 RBI. Garrett Newman earned the W on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings of scoreless relief near the middle of the game.
Chattanooga Christian 8, Baylor 6 (8 innings)
The Chargers were able to pull out their back and forth battle with the Baylor Tigers on Thursday evening in extra inning fashion. Chris King finished 3-5 with a double, a run, and 2 RBI, while Aaron Anand added 2 hits and 3 RBI to the cause. King recorded both of his RBI's on an 8th inning single that gave his team the lead for good. John Rhodes earned the W on the mound, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings of relief.
Pope John Paul II 7, Rossview 4
Mason Hickman dominated in his usual fashion, tossing 5 innings of shutout baseball to lead the Knights to yet another victory on Thursday night. Hickman struck out 8 and allowed only 1 hit and 1 unearned run, while also hitting a 3-run home run of his own at the plate. Jake Rucker, Grayson Lang, and Jordan Weems had the only other hits for the Knights, as they drew a total of 8 walks.
Clarksville 3, Mt. Juliet 0
Teal Young dominated the day by tossing a complete-game shutout over the Bears of Mt. Juliet. Young only allowed 4 hits and 2 walks in his 7 innings of work, while also finishing 2-3 at the plate. Garrett Spain and JT Miller both finished 1-3 with an RBI and Chase Nichols added a double and scored a run.
McNairy Central 6, Huntingdon 4
Dylan Parmely got the W on the mound for the Cougars on Thursday night, tossing 6.1 innings of solid baseball. Parmely allowed 7 hits and 3 earned runs. Logan Essary, Sidney Rickman, Casey Coleson, Logan Roberts, and Tristan King all had 2 hits on the night and combined to produce 4 runs and 4 RBI.
Gibson County 5, Westview 3
Sam McKinney finished Thursday night's contest 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI to help lead the Pioneer offense to victory. Josh London and Camron McMackin both added 2 hits of their own and combined to score 3 runs on the night. Adam Atkins earned the W on the mound, tossing 4 innings of 1-run baseball out of the bullpen.
Siegel 2, Riverdale 1 (9 innings)
In one of the most competitive games of the year, the Siegel Stars were able to grind out the 9-inning victory over Riverdale in walk-off fashion. JR Langworthy threw the first 6 innings and allowed only 1 run while striking out 6. Chase Melton had 2 hits and Drew Benefield scored both runs. Seth Petry tossed the final 3 innings without allowing a run and worked the walk-off walk in the bottom of the 9th to win the game.
Collierville 11, Florida Christian (FL) 3
Eight of the Dragons' nine players recorded at least 1 hit on Thursday night to help produce a very strong offensive output. Evan Chatlosh and Mitch Austin led the way by combining to go 5-6 with 4 runs and 4 RBI in the game, while Parker Moss added a double, 2 runs, and an RBI. Tyler Sherman earned the W on the mound, tossing all 7 innings and striking out 11 hitters.
