Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from games around the state on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
Karns 5, Webb of Knoxville 4
The Beavers used a solid performance from the top of their lineup in Wednesday evening's victory, as Alex Hames, Trevor Adams, and Tyler Hartless combined to go 5-10 with 2 doubles, 3 runs, and 2 RBIs. Isaac Cooper finished 3-4 and Brian Bell drove in 2 runs. Hartless also earned the W on the mound, while Jacob Nelson recorded the save.
Bradley Central 5, East Hamilton 4 (12 innings)
Bradley Central earned a hard-fought victory on Wednesday evening, pulling ahead by 1 run in the top of the 12th. Pete Williams went 2-6, while Dylan Standifer finished 4-6 with a run scored. Carson Still added a hit and 2 RBIs and Colton Cross earned the victory by tossing 7 innings of scoreless relief.
Independence 13, Ravenwood 6
The Independence bats came out hot in game one of their Wednesday double-header against the Raptors of Ravenwood. Dillan Saunders, Robert Hassell, and Beaux Escobar each had 2 hits and combined for 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Noah Haynie added a solo home run and William Burnett went 2-4 with 2 doubles, a run, and 4 RBIs. Zane Denton hit 2 home runs for Ravenwood.
Independence 6, Ravenwood 2
Shawn Wallwork led the Eagles' offense in the back end of their double-header against Ravenwood, finishing 3-3 with a double, 2 runs, and an RBI in the victory. Caleb Reed and Robert Hassell both went 2-3 and combined for 3 doubles and 3 RBIs. Chayton Gray earned the W on the mound, coming on in relief of Ethan Small in the 4th.
Bearden 5, West 2
Brandon Trammel dealt all 7 innings in Wednesday's Bearden victory over the West Rebels, allowing only 6 hits and 2 runs while striking out 9. David Beam and Ross McKenry led the offense, combining to go 3-6 with a run and 3 RBIs. Beam hit a home run and Thomas Wilson tallied a double.
Rossview 7, Springfield 3
The Hawks received a complete team effort to earn their victory over Springfield on Wednesday night, as 5 hitters recorded at least 1 hit and 1 RBI in the 7 innings. Gage Bradley went 2-4 with a triple and 2 runs scored, David Bowman went 2-4 with a home run, a run, and an RBI, and Elijah Pleasants added a double with a run and an RBI. Austin Jackson earned the W on the mound, tossing 6 innings of 1-run baseball.
Science Hill 9, David Crockett 0
Brandon Feathers tossed a complete-game shutout for the Toppers in their Wednesday night victory over the Pioneers of David Crockett. Feathers struck out 10 and allowed only 2 hits in his 7 innings of work. Tilo Skole, Chance Hall, and Ben Edwards all went 2-4 and combined to produce 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored to lead the offense.
Hardin Valley 11, Heritage 9
The Hawks put together a huge offensive performance on Wednesday night, pounding out 11 hits and 11 runs in the win. Drew Parks and Lukas Cook each homered and combined for 4 runs and 7 RBIs, while Dawson Byard added 2 hits, a run, and an RBI of his own. Parks also earned the W on the mound and Cook recorded the save.
Siegel 5, Brentwood 2
Zac Pearson went 2-4 with a double, a run, and 2 RBIs to lead the Stars' offense on Wednesday night. Andrew Benefield and Matt McCurry each went 1-2 with a run scored, while Carson Simmons earned the W on the mound. Jason Chandler tossed the final 3 innings in scoreless fashion to record the save, striking out 6.
