Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from games around the state on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.
Evangelical Christian 3, First Assembly Christian 0
Keegan Westbrook tossed a complete-game shutout on Tuesday evening, allowing only 2 hits and recording 11 strikeouts in the Eagles' victory. Hunter Childress led the offense with 2 hits and 2 runs scored, while Riley Watkins followed him up with 2 hits of his own and an RBI. Dawson Williams and Nathan McMeans each had a hit, as Williams scored a run and McMeans drove one in.
Evangelical Christian 9, First Assembly Christian 0
Houston Harding dealt a very impressive 7-inning shutout in Tuesday's double-header sweep for the Eagles, allowing only 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 16 Crusaders to earn the W. Harding also had a hit and 2 RBIs at the plate and was backed up by multi-hit games from Josh Rooker and Nathan McMeans.
White Station 10, Whitehaven 2
The Spartans used a total team effort to throw 10 runs on the board against Whitehaven, as 5 players had at least 1 hit and 1 run scored. John Lyons led the way, finishing 2-2 with a double, a run, and 2 RBIs, while Hunter Anderson and Josh Thorpe each scored 2 runs and drove 1 in. Anthony Dempsey earned the W on the mound.
Brighton 4, Hardin County 1
Matthew Jacome tossed all 7 innings to earn the W for the Cardinals in Tuesday night's contest, allowing only 6 hits and 1 run while striking out 6. TJ Klutts hit a 3-run home run in the second inning to create a lead and the scoring was topped by Dalton Rushing's RBI double in the 4th. Rushing finished 3-4 and Cole Wilkins had 2 hits on the night.
Collierville 13, Arlington 1
The Dragons' offense came out swinging on Tuesday night, as they scored in all five innings of play to record a convincing victory over the Arlington Tigers. Adam Hall led the way, finishing 3-3 with a double, a home run, a walk, 2 RBIs, and 3 runs scored, while Blake Donels and Braden Sutton each added 2 hits to the cause. Parker Moss scored 2 runs and drove 2 in and Tyler Sherman earned the W on the mound by striking out 6 and allowing only 5 hits.
St. George's 9, Tipton-Rosemark 4
After trailing 4-0 through 5 innings, the St. George's Gryphons constructed a 9-run sixth inning that delivered them a huge victory on Tuesday night. Ben Glass, Dalton Reese, and Spencer Smith led the way from the top of the lineup, combining to go 6-11 with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Glass also earned the W on the mound by dealing 2 innings of perfect relief with 3 strikeouts.
Riverdale 2, Oakland 1
Kyle Chandler delivered a gem on the mound for the Warriors on Tuesday night, tossing 7 innings and allowing only 3 hits, 2 walks, and 1 run. Chandler struck out 8 in earning the W. Peyton Henderson and Trae McLemore powered the offense by combining to go 4-6 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs on the night.
