Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from games around the state on Monday, April 17, 2017.
Ooltewah 8, McMinn County 1
Daniel Willie delivered a gem on the mound for the Owls on Monday afternoon, dealing all 7 innings and allowing only 2 hits, 1 walk, and 1 unearned run while racking up 7 strikeouts. Andrew Manning finished 3-3 with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, and 1 runs scored to lead the offense. Andy Reed and Trevor Wiggs both had 2 hits and Zach Wolfe drove in 2 runs.
Chattanooga Christian 7, Sequatchie County 0
The Chargers received another strong performance from Matthew Mercer on Monday evening, as he delivered a complete-game shutout with 12 strikeouts. Mercer allowed only 4 hits and finished 1-3 with 2 RBI at the plate. John Rhodes went 2-3 with a double, 2 runs, and an RBI to lead the offense, while Austin Vincent added 2 RBIs of his own.
Covington 6, Jackson North Side 1
Evan Whitley led the Chargers offense on Monday evening, finishing 3-4 with a double and 2 runs scored. Brennan McClain added 2 hits and Austin Baskin drove in 2 runs with a double. Ty Warmath got the W on the mound, tossing 7 innings and allowing 3 hits, 3 walks, and 1 run while racking up 8 strikeouts.
Greeneville 11, Chuckey-Doak 3
Cody Hartness, Jordan Idell, and Augustus Fraley all had 2 hits on Monday evening and combined to tally 2 doubles, 4 runs, and 5 RBIs. Caden Ramsey added a double and 2 runs and 4 Devils shared the work on the mound in holding Chuckey-Doak to 3 runs on 2 hits with 9 strikeouts.
Farragut 10, Hardin Valley 3
Six Admirals had at least 1 hit and 1 RBI in Monday night's victory over the Hawks of Hardin Valley, led by Parker Noland and Brad Grenkoski. Each finished 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored, while Jake Hagenow added a solo home run. Carson Wright, Cade Burkey, and Jake Grooms combined for 4 hits and 6 RBIs. Collin Grove earned the W on the mound.
Elizabethton 6, Sullivan North 0
The Cyclones received a big all-around performance from Brodie Adams on Friday evening, as he not only dealt the complete-game shutout with 9 strikeouts, but also finished 2-4 at the plate with a triple and 2 RBIs. Michael Robinson went 2-3 with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, and 1 run scored.
St. George's 8, Tipton-Rosemark 5
Ben Glass and Dalton Reese powered the Gryphons in their Monday night victory over the Rebels of Tipton-Rosemark by combining to finish 5-6 with 4 doubles, 3 RBIs, and 5 runs scored. Spencer Smith added 2 hits and an RBI, while Graham Sisson earned the W on the mound.
