Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from around the state on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
Christian Academy of Knoxville 6, Sissonville (WV) 0
Spencer Strider delivered another ridiculous performance on Wednesday evening, tossing all 7 innings and allowing only 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 18 in 97 pitches. Zane Keener and Garrett Breeden led the offense, combining for 4 of the Warriors' 7 hits and producing 2 doubles, 2 runs, and 5 RBIs.
Davidson Academy 10, South Warren (KY) 2
The Bears pulled out a victory in Wednesday night's inter-state battle with South Warren, thanks to a strong performance on the mound by Ethan Tressler. Tossing 6 innings and allowing only 4 hits, 2 walks, and 2 runs, Tressler struck out 6 and Cole Heath closed it out. Brock Myers went 3-3 with 2 runs and an RBI, while Cobey Allison added 2 hits a run, and an RBI of his own.
Farragut 15, West (Knoxville) 5
The Admirals came out swinging on Wednesday night, pounding out 15 runs on 10 hits and 5 walks against West. Chandler Chambers, Parker Noland, and Ashton King all had 2 hits and combined for 8 RBIs and 6 runs scored. King, Carson Wright, and Jake Hagenow all hit home runs and Noland produced a triple.
Covington 9, Haywood 1
Austin Baskin helped lead the way from both sides of the baseball in Wednesday night's win over Haywood, tossing 7 innings of 1-run baseball, while also finishing 1-3 with an RBI at the plate. Brennan McClain finished 2-4 with 3 RBIs and Ethan Whitley went 2-3 with 3 runs scored.
Summit 5, Independence 1
Davis Jackson put together a huge performance on the mound in Wednesday night's spartan victory, dealing a complete-game and allowing only 4 hits, 2 walks, and 1 run, while striking out 7. Chris McElvain went 2-4 with 2 RBI and Wade Lopiccolo and Reid Peterson scored 2 runs each.
Blackman 6, Oakland 2
The Blaze got 4 of their 6 hits on the night from DJ Wright and Michael Dimartino, who combined for 2 doubles, 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored to help lead the offense in their victory over Oakland. Zavien Lindsey got the W on the mound, striking out 8 in 5.2 innings pitched and allowing only 2 hits, 3 walks, and 1 earned run. Mateo Lozano closed out the final 1.1 innings without allowing a run.
Clarksville 12, Rossview 6
The offense saved the Wildcats' day on Wednesday night, powering out 12 runs in the 7 inning affair. Skyler Luna, Kendall Tyrell, and JT Miller led the way, combining for 5 hits, 3 walks, 5 runs, and 7 RBIs. Garett Spain and Luke Chilcutt each added a hit and a run, as well.
Stewarts Creek 6, Siegel 1
Daniel Freeman delivered a strong performance on the mound to help lead the Redhawks to a big victory on Wednesday evening. Freeman tossed 6 innings and allowed only 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 5. Chase and Maddox Vondohlen powered the offense, each producing 2 hits apiece and combining for 5 RBIs and 1 run scored.
Christian Brothers 9, St. George's 1
Weston Bizzle delivered a strong performance for the Purple Wave on Wednesday evening against the Gryphons of St. George's, tossing 7 innings and allowing 4 hits, 1 walk, and 1 run while striking out 10. Bizzle also added 2 hits, a run, and an RBI at the plate. Tres Crittenden paced the offense, finishing 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs.
