D.H. Conley came away with a convincing 10 to 0 win over Wakefield Monday night. Conley’s RHP, Noah Jones (2017 -- ECU commit), turned in a dominant pitching performance. In 5 innings, Noah had excellent command of his fastball and breaking ball, striking out 12. The final line included 3 hits, 1 walk and 1 hit by pitch. A full report on Jones’ outing can be seen in the NC HS Scout Blog.
RHP David Dobson (2018) came in to pitch the sixth inning. He struck out the 3 batters he faced, attacking the strike zone. The uncommitted righty is also profiled in the NC HS Scout Blog.
Conley’s offensive leaders were Cam Andrews (2 for 4 -- 2018), Nick Gurkins (2 for 3 -- 2018), Robbie O’Neil (2 for 3 -- 2019), and Brock Cross (3 for 4 -- 2018).
Of Wakefield’s 18 outs in the 6 inning game, 15 were by strike out. Wakefield’s offensive highlight was a triple off the right center field fence by Zach Michael (2019 – North Carolina State commit).
Wakefield’s starting pitcher, Caleb Keith (2018) pitched 3.1 innings, gave up 7 hits, 4 walks, and 6 runs. He was followed by LHP Ryan Fowler (2018) and LHP Jake Gibson (2018).
