PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
Schultz: I chose DCTC because I grew a strong relationship with the coaches throughout the recruiting process and felt I have the opportunity to compete at a high level in the junior college level and still have the opportunity to move on to a higher level school.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Schultz: Gustavus, Century, St Scholastica.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
Schultz: Coach Krikwold was my fall coach for the Minnesota Millers and through the fall we built a strong relationship. Coach Erzar was following our team and helped coach during the season and saw potential in me which helped build a strong relationship. Both coaches are very good guys and great coaches who will help you on the field and off the field.
PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
Schultz: Yes, this has taken a heavy burden off of my shoulders and now I can focus on baseball, school, and life without having to have the thought of college in the back of my head.
PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
Schultz: Competitive baseball and the opportunity to move on to a higher-level school after
PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
Schultz: Everyone who has coached or has been by my side throughout my baseball career.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
Schultz: It was a lot more stressful than I thought it would be. Figuring out where you want your future to be is a hard decision
PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
Schultz: To compete for the starting spot and grow my baseball abilities to help get me to the next level
PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
Schultz: Hitting me very first homerun during 14AAA baseball. The amount of joy and happiness that came after will never forget it
PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
Schultz: Jonah Hoeg. The kid always found a way to barrel any pitch up no matter where it was in the strike zone with power behind his swing
