PBR: Why did you choose Western Illinois?
SEARS: I really liked the town and the atmosphere. I also felt like I would get a chance to play right away.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
SEARS: Iowa and Creighton.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
SEARS: They saw me when they were recruiting my brother. After that I went to camp and kept in touch with them.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
SEARS: Yes, it was nice when I finally decided and did not have to worry about picking a college. It helped me relax and just play baseball.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
SEARS: Yes, the coaching staff was awesome and I felt like the team was a very close group which was important to me.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
SEARS: My family and coaches.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
SEARS: It was a lot more stressful than I thought it would be. It wasn't extremely difficult but it gave me a lot to think about. It was a fun process.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
SEARS: The coaches said I will get a chance to get on the mound and see where it goes from there.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
SEARS: Winning the 3A state baseball title in 2016.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
SEARS: My 8th grade year I played against Daniel Tillo.
