The Commitment Corner spotlights those Maryland high school student-athletes who have made their decision on where to play their college baseball. This is a unique opportunity to get to know several of the states top talent and gain insight into their recruitment process and ultimately what made them choose the school they did. Today we speak with: Jason Rivera

PBR MD:  Why did you choose Mount St. Mary's?

  • Mount St. Mary's provides me with the opportunity to play Division I baseball in my own backyard while offering top notch education in the Computer Science field. The location allows me to be closer to my home and gives my family the opportunity to attend every home game.

PBR MD:  What do you plan to major in at Mount St. Mary's?

  • Computer Science

PBR MD:  What are some of your goals you would like to achieve at Mount St. Mary's?

  • I want to graduate with a Computer Science degree with a minor in Cyber Security. Also, as a two-way player I want to continue my development and improve my skills on the mound, at the plate and in the outfield to hopefully get a opportunity to play at the next level.

PBR MD:  What other schools recruited you?

  • Cornell, Villanova, Millersburg, JMU, William & Mary and Richmond

PBR MD:  What was your favorite part about the recruiting process?

  • Meeting different people, touring different facilities, and playing baseball on different college baseball fields.
