Colorado Preseason All-State: Top Underclass Hitting Prospects

PARKER, CO-- On March 8, 2020, the PBR Colorado Staff held the Colorado Preseason All-State Showcase in Parker, Colorado. This invite event had a great group of underclassman to evaluate and assess. We are highlighting 6 Underclass Hitting Prospects that had great showcase performances. Each hitter had a noteworthy skill and projectable future beyond high school.
2022
River Jackson C / SS / University, CO / 2022Rankings StateRank: 43 / POS: 5
Hit: RHH Slight sway to load and is strong in legs. Very consistent lower half and created a balanced position at launch. Rear Side Accel-with rotation. Hands maintain angles and are direct to the ball. Very compact. Have seen River a number of times, this round not as consistent, but still demonstrated good tools for development. Exit Velo 89 |
Will Vasseur SS / RHP / Rocky Mountain, CO / 20226-foot-2 190-pound right-handed hitting shortstop, strong, stocky frame, athletic build, will see more power in all overall game with continued physical development and firming up of the frame. Offensively, simple setup, balanced, hands load back smoothly with a short stride, good balance and rhythm. Gap-to-gap type hitter, drove the ball back up the middle on multiple occasions throughout the Adidas Three Stripe Classic. With added strength to frame will possess a considerable amount of pull-side pop down the road. |
Keaton Walker 3B / 1B / Flatirons Academy, CO / 2022Rankings StateRank: 34 / POS: 5
Hit: RHH Front side Sway to Load Stance. Used a variety of strides. Some high leg kicks Front side creates momentum. Slight movements, but hands and arm angles stay high above ball. Aggressive and attacking hands. Can run it to some great contact. Will benefit with continued work on balance and use of rear side. Easy to see potential as he refines skills Power: Definite Potential...love his aggression to ball |
2023's
Finley Bates SS / 3B / Douglas County, CO / 2023Hit: RHH Open Shoulder width stance, Rhythm toe tap to in line stride. Hands/Arm Angles have minimal movements. At launch, Finley in strong launch position. Rear side Acceleration is excellent. Attacking approach with hands. Aligned and In Sync. Path is has line drive tendency and demonstrates ability to keep hands inside of FB IN. Exit Velo 86. Middle of the Field approach. Comfortable is box, would consider Finley a Top prospect in the 2023 Class. Power: Projectable power to a given pitch, would see Finley as a Gap to Gap player how turns singles to doubles and doubles to triples |
Chase Thomas 2B / OF / Severance , CO / 2023Hit: RHH Narrow stance slightly open, Leg lift timed with sway for load. Stride is in line. Rear side acceleration creates torso acceleration. Synced and on time generates good bat speed. Did a really good job of controlling the barrel in different zones. Follow through was balanced. Comfortable in box. Exit velo 87 |
Tommy Marsh 3B / RHP / Cherry Creek, CO / 2023Hit: RHH. Wide Foundation with lean to Back side. Sway Load and minimal leg lift for stride. Hands are simple with little movement. Arm angles maintained and bat head in optimal position before launch. Tommy has direct and punishing path to ball. Rear side acceleration is great. Lower/Upper in sync. Hands stay inside ball, Middle of field approach with some pull tendency. Exit Velo 93 Would consider Tommy a Top Follow for 2023! |
