Class of 2019 Showcase: Statistical Analysis

The Class of 2019 Showcase took place on Tuesday, July 18th at Wheaton College's Lee Pfund Stadium in Carol Stream, IL. The event had nearly 80 prospects from Illinois' 2019 class participate in a pro style workout in front of the PBR Scouting Staff. Today we start event analysis with stats story. The arms of Beiker Fuentes (Crystal Lake South) and Julio Cajigas (Romeoville) stood out amongst the rest, as Fuentes posted the top velocities from the infield and outfield. Cajigas was runner-up in the infield, outfield, and catcher velocities, as well as catcher pop time.

Top 60 yard dash times
Clark Elliott (Barrington) stood out in the 60, posting an event best 6.59; an entire 0.10 seconds faster than the runner-up Elias Flowers (Yorkville). In total 16 prospects broke the 7.00 mark.

Top fastball velocity
Nate Curtis (Plainfield North) and Nick Fields (Galesburg) were the only two prospects to reach 85 mph or above, with Curtis topping out at 86.

No single player was able to separate themselves from the pack in exit velocity, with four prospects, Cade Bibby (Harlem), Garry Maynard (Oswego), Angelo Cantelo (Marian Catholic), and Lucas Kolovitz (Fenwick) recording 95 mph.

tOP INFIELD VELOCITY
Beiker Fuentes (Crystal Lake South) tops the leaderboard in infield velocity, as he recorded 86 mph across the diamond. Julio Cajigas (Romeoville), Nick Kosmetatos (St. Francis), and Johnny Colombo (Lane Tech) all posted 85 mph.

Beiker Fuentes (Crystal Lake South) once again finds himself atop the leaderboard, posting an event best 90 mph from the outfield. Utility-man Julio Cajigas (Romeoville) was runner-up once more to Fuentes, recording 84 mph.

Joseph Miller (Oswego) and Julio Cajigas (Romeoville) were the only two catchers to break the 2.00 second pop time mark. Miller beat our Cajigas by 0.01 seconds. Alex Powers (Prairie Ridge) came close with an exact 2.00 pop time. The most consistent catcher was Max Malley (Marist), who's pop times 2.05 - 2.11 showed the least amount of variance.

Alex Powers (Prairie Ridge) came out firing from behind the dish, posting 79 mph out of the crouch, good enough to lead all catchers. Julio Cajigas (Romeoville) followed up Powers at 77 mph.
