Augustana College Super-Sectional- Monday at 12
Rock island (Alleman) (27-12) vs. Richmond Burton (27-9)
Monmouth (Roseville) Sectional Final
Rock Island (Alleman) (27-12) blasted Canton 13-4 behind Pioneer Cody Sedlock, who had two hits and drove home four Alleman runs. Pioneer starting pitcher Matt Schissel (8-4) picked up the win on the mound.
Morrison Sectional Final
Richmond Burton (27-9) defeated Rock Falls 4-2 behind a six-hitter from Rocket junior RHP Ryne Blanton (9-3). Blanton struck out five. Wright State-bound LHP E.J. Trapino (12-0) struck out two in a 1-2-3 seventh to pick up the save. R-B senior Evan Giacomo had a big RBI double in the first inning. Senior Ray Wojciechowski had a clutch two-out RBI single in the third inning.
Benedictine University Super-Sectional Monday at 1:30
Herscher (32-7) vs. Gordon Tech (22-17)
Benedictine Sectional Final
Gordon Tech (22-17) outslugged Walther Lutheran 8-6 to win its first sectional championship.
Coal City Sectional Final
Herscher slipped past Chicago Christian 3-2, to advance to the Tigers’ fifth Super-Sectional in six years. Herscher junior Evan Regez gave his dad, Tiger Head Coach Eric, an early Father’s Day present, when he singled home the Tiger game-winner in the bottom of the seventh. Senior Matt Webber fired a five-hitter at the Knights with seven strikeouts to improve to 9-2 on the season. Chicago Christian bows out at 26-13.
Herscher (32-7) will meet Gordon Tech (22-17) in the Class 2A Benedictine University Super-Sectional at 1:30 on Memorial Day, Monday. The PBR’s Drake Skleba will be in Lisle for all of the action.
Sauget (GCS Park) Super-Sectional Monday 5
Teutopolis (31-8) vs. Trenton (Wesclin) (19-17)
Robinson Sectional Final
Defending Class 2A State Champion Teutopolis (31-8) defeated Mount Zion 6-4 to advance to the Class 2A Sauget Super-Sectional. Mount Zion concludes a super-season at 31-6.
Vandalia Sectional Final
Cinderella Trenton (Wesclin) (19-17) stunned Anna-Jonesboro 4-2 behind Warrior 6-foot-1, 220 pound senior RHP Josh Groennert (3-3). Groennert fired a
six-hitter at A-J (29-9) had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate leading the Warriors to a Memorial Day date with two-time defending Class 2A State Champion Teutopolis (31-8).
Lincoln Land College Super-Sectional Monday 3
Normal U-High (27-10) vs. Quincy Notre Dame (23-9)
Clinton Sectional Final
Normal U-High (27-10) slipped past Stanford Olympia 4-3, by scoring three times in the bottom of the sixth, to rally past the Spartans. Pioneer senior Jordan Stralow singled home Heartland Community College-bound LHP Jake Hendren, with the tying run and Hendren scored the eventual game-winner on a Spartan miscue. Hendren struck out the side in the top of the seventh, wrapping up the Pioneers first sectional title since 1998.
Quincy Notre Dame Sectional Final
Quincy Notre Dame (23-9) scored three times in the top of the seventh to rally past Williamsville 7-6.

Marion Miners Super-Sectional
Effingham (St. Anthony) (28-8-1) vs. Shawnee (20-8) Monday at 6
Effingham St. Anthony Sectional Final
Effingham St Anthony blanked Farina South Central 5-0 on Saturday.
Marissa Sectional Final
Shawnee (20-8) defeated Goreville 3-2, behind Redskin sophomore 3B Austin Treece. Treece went deep for the fifth time this season, with two on in the bottom of the first, to give Redskin junior starting pitcher Brandon Pind (2-0) all the runs he would need.
Lincoln Land College Super-Sectional Monday at 1
Alton (Marquette) (26-8) vs. Pawnee (27-6) Monday 1
Blackburn College Sectional Final
There will be a new Class 1A State Champion in 2012. Alton (Marquette) (26-8) defeated defending state-champ Carrollton 7-6. Marquette scored the winning run in the top of the seventh on a passed ball and Explorer freshman Carter Hayden (3-0) fired three scoreless innings at the Hawks to nail down the win.
Lewistown Sectional Final
Pawnee (31-6) slipped past Griggsville-Union 1-0 behind a shutout from Indian Ryan Baily (10-1). Baily fired a six-hitter with eight strikeouts.
Indian Matt Allen’s two-out RBI walk-off single sent the Pawnee Nation home happy in the bottom of the seventh.
Benedictine University Super-Sectional Monday at 11
Ottawa Marquette (29-4) vs. Lena-Winslow (26-9)
Putnam County Sectional Final
Ottawa Marquette (29-4) outslugged Illinois Lutheran 13-10.
Lena-Winslow Sectional Final
Lena-Winslow (26-9) defeated Somonauk 6-4.
University of Illinois Super-Sectional
Illinois Wesleyan Sectional Final
Tremont (26-10) defeated Abington 7-4 behind a 14-strikeout performance from Turk senior RHP Blake Uhlman (8-1).Turk senior Jerry Herbst had two hits and two RBI to lead Tremont back to the Elite 8. The Turks finished fourth in 2011.
Danville (Schlarman) Sectional Final
Tuscola defeated Danville Schlarman 7-6.
