FRESNO, CA - Today we take a look at outfielders from the Central Valley Preseason ID Showcase, held at Fresno City College on Sunday, January 13th. We've covered Catchers, and did a Quick Hits on some standouts from the event. Player stats are also available for review.

Scouting Report

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason ID - Long, lean and lanky build with a wide chest and sloped shoulders; projectable build that can add strength and muscle through maturity. Long legs move well with twitchy hips and shows good stride length (7.21 60-yd dash). Balanced stance with even hands and wide elbows as bat rest on the back shoulder; loads hands deep with a slight armbar as bat gets into good attack angle. Projectable bat speed as bat work on a slightly upward path with strong body rotations while keeping hands tight and utilizing lower half for success to pullside (80 exit velo). Loose and fluid in OF with strong angles to the ball; times where he uses extra steps to get his arm and body moving. Arm shows quickness from mid-¾ slow with some length through extension and life on throws; very projectable OF arm and body (81 mph).

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason ID - Compact and lean, small frame with wide sloping shoulders and high waist. Quick feet in agile legs showed the ability to get moving once underway; very strong 60-yd dash (6.98). Balanced, slightly crouched stance with high, even hands and high bat out away from his body. Coils around back hip in load using quick leg tuck before getting long extension with front leg as hands work back and turn bat towards pitcher; projectable bat speed gets on plane early and showing some lag in the zone with the ability to spray line drives around the field (85 exit velo). Quick, compact arm from a lower slot with quick release; more of an INF styled arm now, but projectable. Uses short stride with quick feet in OF with arm working well when in time with lower half (76 mph).

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason ID - Medium frame with a wide chest, showing strength in shoulders. Short stride from a high runner (8.09 60-yd dash). Tall, balanced stance with a slight bend in knees and high hands/high back elbow; big front leg lift as hands work back in lean load to back hip. Good job of hitting behind the baseball working on an upward path; times where he lets his hands get around the ball into pull side (83 exit velo). Compact arm with some length down before ¾ release; limited pull down as balls had a high angle to bags. Arm and legs looked to be more in time when working in the INF (76 mph)

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason ID - Wide, medium frame with thickness in stomach/chest area; strength and agility available as the body continues to mature and tighten. Quick legs once underway (7.80 60-yd dash). Balanced stance with a slight bend in knees as hands start at back shoulder with a high back elbow; slight pre-pitch wiggle of bat with hands dropping as knee turns in load. Average hand speed with the ability to pepper middle of the field with line drives; very strong turns and body help produce loud contact (92 exit velo). Works behind the ball well in OF with a strong finish; mid-¾ arm with flashes of more when getting extension (78 mph).

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason ID - Medium frame with thickness in lower half; wider shoulders showing growing strength in the upper half. Quick short stride with cross-body arm action (7.91 60-yd dash). Wide, balanced stance with high hands close to head; hands work back with knee turn load before attacking on upwards path. Strong pull side approach with flashes of pop to the pull side as well (65 exit velo). Wide arm with stabby action in OF; slingy arm action that has ball have some run/cut while online to bags (75 mph).

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason ID - Narrow and lean medium frame with length in legs; ability to add strength to frame as he matures. Long legs move quickly with head down, aggressive running style (7.53 60-yd dash). Starts tall and balanced with high hands and a high back elbow showing small bend in knees; quick foot lift while leans into back hip as hands pull back into shoulder before attacking on an uphill path. Bat showed pull side swing with flashes of pop when getting on plane and being behind the ball (79 exit velo). Wide mid-¾ arm shows some whippy action when working in time with lower half; quickness in attacking the ball and using lower half to get most out of throws (74 mph).

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason ID - Lean and long, compact small frame that projects to add strength/size as he continues to mature; squared shoulders with tight muscle. Quick, inline speed with fast-moving legs (7..2 60-yd dash). Very high, wide hands in slightly crouched wide set up; slight tuck with foot lift as hands move tight to back shoulder. Bat shows average hand speed and is direct with liners in oppo approach; times where he locks himself up with closed front hip (74 exit velo). Fluid, athletic pace in OF with the ability to come attack ball and use good direction through the ball; compact quick arm flashed above-average arm speed when working in time with the lower half. Projectable OF skills including a strong arm (74 mph).

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason ID - Wide, large frame showing thick core, length in legs and strength in lower half; linebacker build with agility in lower half that translated well to run times (7.42 60-yd dash). Narrow stance with wide elbows and bat flat on the back shoulder; hands lift up with high front leg lift before being direct to the ball. Strong body helps bat drive liners into oppo field; when on time showed some ability to stay tight and turn to pull side (84 exit velo). Long arm with a narrow approach on balls in OF while utilizing high front shoulder; ball came out with high arc while heavy utilization of arm on throws (72 mph).

Scouting Report

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason ID - Medium frame with length in the lower half and sloping shoulders; projectable strength currently with the ability to get loose hips moving quickly (7.49 60-yd dash). Open, crouched stance with wide, even hands; curls around back hip with knee tuck as hands work back and continue upwards. Strong ability to hit from the back hip with hands getting on plane early and showing flashes of bat speed as he drives ball gap-to-gap; bat has the ability to backspin ball showing projectable strength as he matures (88 exit velo). Long actions out of the glove with smooth follow through at mid-¾ release; limited life on throws but able to keep it around bag (71 mph).
