FRESNO, CA - Today we take a look at infielders from the Central Valley Preseason ID Showcase, held at Fresno City College on Sunday, January 13th. We've covered OutfieldersCatchers, and did a Quick Hits on some standouts from the event. Player stats are also available for review.

Scouting Report

1/13/19 Central Valley Preseason ID - Small frame with thickness and length in lower half; wider chest showing some growing strength. Short stride and high chested runner (8.44 60-yd dash). Narrow, slightly opened, tall stance with even hands and relaxed elbows. Controlled, easy load into the back pocket with lift of front foot and hold in back hip; balances well in back hip for timing with front foot landing and starting the swing. Quick bat with some whip through the zone showing strong extension and high finish; oppo approach currently with line drives (74 exit velo). Wide controlled hips get low allowing glove to make plays out front of body; slower feet with flashes of average range. Average arm depth with growing arm strength (68 mph)

1/13/19 Central Valley Preseason ID - Small frame with wide hips showing thickness in legs and wider chest. Heavy runner with average stride length (8.18 60-yd dash). Balanced base with knees inward and high hands, high back elbow; high front leg lift as he leans into back hip keeping hands quiet with limited movement. Bat is direct matching plane as he stays in back hip well and showed good bat-to-ball skills with extension through swing; could increase usage of back hip to make liners deep drives into the gap (76 exit velo). Clean footwork with the ability to move through the ball; shorter range due to heavy feet. High over top release with limited life (63 mph).

1/13/19 Central Valley Preseason ID - Lean and compact build on small frame showing length in legs and high, tight waist; lean strength throughout the body with room to add to frame. Hard runner with lean; plays faster than straightaway speed (7.68 60-yd dash). Balanced stance with high hands and high back elbow; front foot lifts with hands lifting up. Direct bat path with a middle of the field approach showing short loop to contact (73 exit velo).  Works around and through the ball well with average footwork. Wide, slingy arm with limited life on throws (63 mph).

1/13/19 Central Valley Preseason ID - Lean, medium frame with length in legs and slim, squared shoulders; frame can continue to add strength/muscle to it. Average stride length and can get moving once underway (7.85 60-yd dash). Narrow, crouched stance with knees almost touching and even hands resting bat on back shoulder with flared elbows; toe-tap with knee turn as he turns hands and barrel to pitcher. Aggressive swing with level bat keeping hands tight to the body and driving liners; stayed middle with approach showing a big turn from the backside (80 exit velo). Very wide fielder with low hips showing late glove for ball; smooth when moving to the glove side. The arm is quick playing from a lower slot with the ability to make throws on the run (78 mph).

1/13/19 Central Valley Preseason ID - Long, medium frame that projects to be a large frame in near future; high waist with lean strength growing. Quick, short stride with high chest and head; showed makeup speed late in the run (7.79 60-yd dash). Open stance with a narrow stance and even hands mid-chest; controlled load and front foot with hands working directly back deep into the shoulder. Bat is quick to the ball as he attacks with emphasis; bat shows projectable ability to create leverage and drive through the ball with a high finish. Drove the ball oppo gap with flashes of more pop to come (81 exit velo). Understands spacing and timing keeping good rhythm through the ball; shorter range laterally, but projectable fielding skills. High over the top release with limited life on throws (65 mph).

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Wide shoulders with length in the lower half on a medium frame; young body with frame that can keep growing and tightening as he matures and ages. Short stride with heavy runner (8.63 60-yd dash). Slightly open stance with lean in back leg and even hands with a high back elbow; hands separate back turning barrel towards pitcher as front leg shows quick high tuck. Good usage of lower half driving through the ball as short bat path drives through the middle of the field; projectable bat with future gap power available (84 exit velo). Smooth defender showing strong glove with short range; plays with high hips and profile that fits 3B. Loose arm shows strong finish and extension from ¾ release; projectable arm speed (72 mph).

1/13/19 Central Valley Preseason ID - Strong, large frame with squared shoulders and defined strength in upper half; thick core can be tightened to improve the profile. Heavy runner uses long stride (8.34 60-yd dash). Wide, slightly crouched base with even wide hands; hands load towards back shoulder and down as he rocks weight back. Average hand speed with a level swing that finishes around shoulders; best swings utilize his legs and works when lower half in time with weight transfer through the ball (85 exit velo). Short controlled feet moves well for size at 1st; able to get low with hips. Short arm with limited life (68 mph).

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Wide, rounded shoulders in a large frame with thicker lower half and core; frame has strength and can continue to tighten and shape as he matures. High runner with long leg stride (8.17 60-yd dash). Balanced, slightly crouched stance with even hands away from his body and high back elbow; knee tuck as hands move backward with bat wiggle in pre-pitch load. Creates strong stretch and separation between upper/lower halves of the body showing a quick bat with level bat path. Quick turns while keeping hands tight and driving lower half into the ground; showed pull side quickness with middle field approach (89 exit velo). Athletic lower half plays on a swivel and able to be agile off of and around the bag. Compact arm with quick release keeping ball tight to head (72 mph).

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Long, large frame with squared shoulders and a very high waist; slender built showing plenty of space for growth. Long stride with heavier feet (8.01 60-yd dash). Tall, balanced stance with front foot turned and very high hands and a high back elbow. Hands work back and down as front knee turns losing posture and leaning over the plate; hands are very direct to the ball working before back hip. Oppo/middle approach with liners over MIF heads (80 mph exit velo). Low glove work with high hips; flashes of fluid actions when coming off the bag. Whippy mid arm slot with quick release; can continue to grow into long limbs and has flashes of more athleticism when working in time (75 mph).

1/13/19 Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Very high waist on a long, large frame with lean build; projectable size with plenty of space to add strength and muscle. Short stride with cross body arm action as a runner (8.21 60-yd dash). Slightly crouched stance with high hands and flared elbows as bat stays wide around head; hands work down and back with high front foot lift. Bat is level with flashes of quickness in a direct path; bat works better when he allows clearance in the front hip while peppering middle of the field (76 exit velo). Wide, low hips with late glove actions; good use of feet and able to show timing on throws especially when within range. Quick release from lower slot keeping the ball online to bags (70 mph).

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason I.D. - XL frame with long legs showing high waist and sloped shoulders; not a finished product with space to continue to add strength to fill out the frame. A heavy runner with long leg stride (8.13 60-yd dash). Tall, balanced stance with even hands in back shoulder and bat resting on the back shoulder; quick foot lift and tuck with hands lifting and turning the barrel to pitcher. Good weight transition with bat flashing quickness and ability to get through the ball creating leverage into deep gaps; quick barrel arc works with slightly uphill bat path showing future power potential (84 exit velo). Smooth and controlled around the bag with looseness in his hips; times where he plays a bit high. Arm plays with a quick bow and arrow styled throws putting the ball where it needs to be; arm flashed more available which translates more to the mound (69 mph)

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Long, medium frame with length in the core and lower half while showing sloping shoulders; lean with the ability to add strength. Average stride length with quick feet (7.63 60-yd dash). Tall stance with even base and high hands/elbows as bat rest on the shoulder; toe tap with hands lifting and working back and hitting from a wide base. Uses his full body to get into swing showing average bat speed and bat working on an upward path with flashes of ability to create leverage. Line drives with the ability to go gap-to-gap during the round of BP (83 exit velo). Fluid around the bag showing good footwork and loose hips. The arm is quick with a high release and ability to throw on the move (68 mph).

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Long and lean, large frame with current muscles and length in lower half; a very projectable frame that can continue to add strength as he matures. Long legs move well; more agile than straightaway speed (7.81 60-yd dash). Tall stance with knees turned inwards and high back elbow; small movement back with hands as he strides creating separation and stretch in the upper half. Bat works on a slightly upwards path with the ability to drive deep into gaps and middle of the field; very quick bat flashes explosive qualities and future power (88 exit velo). Narrow feet with loose hips and glove that works down to up; agile around the bag and shows attacking approach with the ability to help infielders out showing soft hands at 1st base. Quick, compact arm with flashes of more when needing to get rid of the ball (81 mph).

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Large frame with width and squared shoulders; very strong build that can tighten and shape body as he continues to mature. A heavy runner with average stride length (7.93 60-yd dash). Open, tall stance with low hands; hands load back into the shoulder with high front foot lift as he curls around back hip. Bat works well on upward path keeping hands tight and showing quickness with flashes of more when using hips. Drove the ball to pull side with pop to the gap and projectable future raw power (85 exit velo). Wide hips in infield moving well to arm side and showing flashes of agility off the bag at 1st. Compact arm with quick release; looked to be saving throws for pitching (66 mph).
